Our Future Leader

Miss Faith is currently running for 7th grade rep at her middle school.  The speeches are to be given this Friday.  Let me recap our daughter and her goals quickly to get to my story…

Faith is our only daughter, she is 12.  She is amazing, inspiring, smart, talented, compassionate, helpful, friendly, creative, organized, well liked, honest, hard working, stubborn, speaks her mind, stands up for herself, steps out of her comfort zone.  She is sarcastic, funny, loyal to a fault, an amazing friend.  She is trusting, caring, competitive, strong and has moxie.  {there is more, but you get it}.

Future Leader

We have just returned from our very first CASL trip {California Association of Student Leaders}.  This trip is open to all leadership kids at the school, only this year it was also open to the yearbook students.  Yes Miss Faith is in yearbook {the 6th grader in a 7th/8th grade class}.  The only 6th grader who attended the CASL conference.  {Very inspiring}.  The next step for her is to run for 7th grade rep, her one minute speech is ready, but the kids were given a random question.  This was hers…

“If you could be any Apple Product, what would it be and why”?

“If I could be any Apple product, I would be an Ipod Shuffle.  This is because it is unique, classic and an original in its own way, just like us.  Some people might think “why wouldn’t you pick something in the new generation”?  Well, being original is like saying you are one of a kind, right?  So being different from everyone else is a great thing.  Although the IPhone does have apps, games, texting and you can get new things all the time…doesn’t mean it’s better than everything and everybody else.  Besides, everyone would have picked that, but since I am stepping out, I would pick the Ipod Shuffle”.

I read this answer she wrote to the question and right away thought,  there you have it.  Our daughter, really thinking and being wise beyond her age.

I will be honest, when I read the question which Apple product would you be.  I right away said “applesauce”.  That is not the kind of apple product they were talking about.

*Have your kids done any type of leadership in school?  Did they enjoy it?  Would you vote for miss Faith? What do you think about her answer to the question?

  9. She seems like such a lovely little girl! I am of the opinion that children resonate a lot of what their parents are, so I assume you share a lot of Faith’s lovely attributes! Especially enjoyed the iPod Shuffle analogy 🙂
Heartening to see a few young people heading out there with their head firmly screwed on their shoulders! XX
