Blueberry and Watermelon Smoothie

Watermelon is in this house the entire season, we can’t get enough.  When I was a kid, my grandmother used to cut, cube and remove the seeds from our watermelon and place it in a bowl for us to have as a snack.  This is now the way I make and prepare watermelon for my kids.  This latest smoothie recipe has watermelon in it and the melon gives is just enough of a sweetness {almost sugar like} but without added sugar.

Blueberry, Melon and Banana Smoothie

Ingredients …

1/2 cup fresh blue berries {I freeze my fresh berries}
2 bananas
1/4 cup watermelon
1 cup Almond Milk {zero sugar}

Add all ingredients into blender or vita mix and blend until smooth.  Pour and enjoy a perfect smoothie for a summer afternoon, for the kids or even a breakfast on the go.

*Do you take the seeds out of the watermelon for your kids?  Do you prefer watermelon room temperature or cold?  Do you like making smoothies at home or find yourself grabbing them from the local coffee stand?

  1. This sounds so YUMMY! I think I will try it today! I usually use frozen fruit (that I freeze myeself) instead of adding ice 🙂 Makes it creamier! Awesome smoothie recipe 🙂 Thanks!

  2. Yeah no juice in my smoothies ever. NO no. The almond milk makes it creamy enough and the melon has its own sweet 🙂 enjoy Heather

  9. Don’t have kids but I remember being told if I ate the seeds & drank water I would grow a watermelon in my tummy. Scared me half to death & my family ended up spending the rest of the day telling me they were kidding haha! I would leave them in though, I do, I’ve heard the seed are loaded with nutrients so it can’t hurt right? This recipe is actually perfect timing for me. I just bought a 17 yes you read that right SEVENTEEN pound watermelon to pulverize to my hearts content in my little blender. I sliced them up and froze them, I must say, frozen watermelon is yummy. I know people go on about certain fruits & veggies being no good after being frozen (they thaw into mush) but since it’s going into a blender….it doesn’t really matter…
