The Ulitmate Coffee Date 5

Good Morning and thank you for joining us for coffee and chat time. Let’s dish shall we?

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that I am getting ready for my next half marathon.  I have two options coming up quickly one in September {the Lake Tahoe Marathon} and one in November {the Napa Valley Harvest Half Marathon}.  I assume I could pull them both off, but running in Lake Tahoe by September seems a bit aggressive, since I would be running in a different altitude and would have many hills.  I guess I could pull them both off, but that might be a bit nuts.  Make sure to check back here next week as I have discount codes for both of these races.  You never know, maybe you or some friends might want to make a trip out this way and run them.

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that I am using the Runtastic Orbit as a new app.  It tracks everything and is a 24 hour wearable gadget from Runtastic.  I am still learning it, but so far loving it.  I have to confess, I am nervous about getting it wet even though it says you can.  Thanks to Fit Approach and the Runtastic team, I was given this opportunity.

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that school starts in 17 days!  Is it me, or do you moms get super excited around this time.  I don’t know, it is bitter sweet.  I love the summer and I love hanging with the kids, but at the same time, I am looking forward to some days to myself.  I know once they start and are gone all day that I will go through my “sad” {I miss them} emotion.  By the way, kudos to all you “home school” parents out there. I applaud you.

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that our middle child {Noah} is going to be a freshman this year and is on the football team.  We don’t have a freshman team this year, so he will be going right onto the JV team and this is his first time ever playing football.  They have been having practices for a month now and will “suit” up next week for full contact with pads.  It looks as if Noah will be playing wide receiver and is excited to follow in the steps of his older brother {who played all four years of high school football}.  I pray we don’t have the injuries or concussions our other son had.

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that I am on a routine of getting up at 5:30 a.m. each day and running.  I am LOVING my early morning running.  I love how quiet and peaceful it is.  I love watching the sun rise and the cool crispness of the day.  I am doing about 5 days minimum and want to incorporate some type of strength training into that but have not figured out yet what to do.

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that the hubby and I are eating Paleo!  Yep, as of two weeks ago today, we  I decided to try this out and notified my wonderfully supportive hubby that he would be joining me.  I have the first week update on the blog and will be sharing the truth about this last week and what has been going on.  Be sure to head back and check that out.

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that this is my birthday month and I am looking forward to turning 47.  I never thought I would say those words, but I am telling you, there is something about the 40’s and I as I go through them, I feel even better each year.  I am finally loving who I am, I am loving my body and am accepting of myself.  I am planning on rocking the next few years until I hit 50 and then watch out.

Thank you for taking time today or this weekend and catching up.  I usually take the entire weekend to go through and follow up with your links and comments.  Make sure to head over to and visit my co-hosts Nikki at Grab Your Kicks and Jill at JillConyers.

Have a fabulous weekend and do something nice for yourself.

  3. Having just run in Aspen, C O last week I can tell you that altitude is no joke! It was so hard. Not to talk you out of the Lake Tahoe run but just know it’s a lot harder. My baby is going to be a freshman too and my daughter a senior. Can’t believe it! We don’t start for another month thankfully. Feel like summer just started. Fun having coffee with you!

    • Deborah, I know. I am really doubting the Tahoe run, seriously. I just can’t seem to think I can pull that off in such a short time. We have an older son {23} so I am somewhat prepared for high school this time around and what to expect. I remember back in the day when we started school in September. Now that seemed right 🙂

  5. Both of those races sound awesome! Unfortunately, they don’t work into my race schedule this year. Morning running is the best! Enjoy!! But also be aware, because it’s also the most dangerous time for solo female runners. Boooo.

  7. Not a better way to start the day than with a run! I love having more free time in summer to run whenever I want. I hope paleo is going well for you! Any way of eating that focuses on whole foods is a win in my book. Have a great day!

  8. Good morning and happy Sunday, drinking my coffee with a scoop of coconut oil. I love being in my 40’s! It is a great time! My hubby and I are empty nesters so school starting back is not what it used to be! 🙂 I have started a new training plan and I am planning on running my first 15K this year and then move on to a half. I love early morning runs too! So peaceful! Have a great week!

  13. If we were having coffee I would be congratulating you on getting out the door for a run at 5:30 AM! And what a beautiful area to run (I lived in Napa for 10 years before moving to Chico). I’m not a runner but I do enjoy a jog/walk when I can in addition to my faithful gym workouts. Popping over from SITS…Nice to meet you.

  15. Have enjoyed discovering your blog. I am training for my first 50k mountain trail ultra, have completed 9 marathons, two trails. Have been reminiscing on back-to-school mornings and how sweet they were; my three are now in college. Have a lovely day ~
