Sisters Crush Breast Cancer 5k

Fall is just around the corner and we think of colors, leaves, pumpkins, chilly weather, foggy mornings, comfort food, baking, getting cozied up and just embracing the season coming.  Well it also means October  is near and that is the month for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Maybe we don’t speak of it much, maybe we are afraid to talk about it, maybe we have a personal connection or story about it, either way it is all around us and we see Pink everywhere.  Ribbons, buttons, shirts, shoelaces, tennis shoes {the runner in me} workout wear, kitchen appliances, pink NFL uniforms, etc.

Pink just happens to be pretty much my most favorite color, but it is a reminder to me that it stands for something … something very powerful.  Powerful because Breast Cancer is strong.  It takes over and can sometimes win OR sometimes lose.  Pink is pretty, Breast Cancer is NOT!

I am so very humbled to have been asked to join an event here in my own back yard.  The Sisters Crush Breast Cancer Fundraiser and 5k event.  The sisters launched their very first annual fundraising event in 2010 right in their family boutique here in Yountville, CA.  This October will be the inaugural 5k Run/Walk  followed by a post race celebration and silent auction.  You will have the opportunity to have food, wine, sweets.  Enjoy trunk shows, swag bags and a silent auction.

All of this takes place right in down town Yountville.  The route takes you through and around the quaint town and ends at the Vintage 1870 building  {V Marketplace}.  This is where you can stay and spend some time visiting the shops, galleries, and restaurants.

What a fun addition to a weekend away in the wine country.  A great way to start your morning and enjoy your day.  If you are local, head up for the event and bring your friends.  A 5k walk/run is for every age and every body.  It is so beautiful here, that the trip up is so worth it.

*Allison Gryphon one of the women involved with this project {movie director} and breast cancer survivor has her latest documentary available on I-Tunes What the F@#- Is Cancer and Why Does Everybody Have It? will be playing at the Napa Valley Film Festival.

  • *Race packets and bibs can be picked up at Sisters Boutique the week of October 11th – 17th OR they will be made available the morning of race day at 7:30 a.m.

I hope to see you in a few weeks and wearing Pink with me, I would love to run with you

*Do you get regular check ups and mammograms?
*Have you ever attended a breast cancer event?
