The Ulitmate Coffee Date #6

Good morning and happy Saturday.  We are having our sixth cup of coffee together since starting the Ultimate Coffee Date.  Welcome back to you regulars and welcome to any newbies out there.  Take your time all weekend {or longer} settle in, and get yourself a cup of your fave drink and get caught up with these great bloggers, and don’t forget to add your “coffee” related post to our link.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you  that school has started and we are in our third week {we start early here}.  Miss Faith is a 7th grader and is continuing her passion for being involved with school as she is taking Leadership the entire year.  We have a calendar just for her and the obligations that the Leadership committee must meet for the year.  Noah is now a Freshman at the high school here and with the help of the IEP program and all the amazing staff, we have had a successful start.

We have met and sat with the two counselors that are here for him this year.  I am to join a “team time” meeting with all his teachers next week, just to have a one on one with them and give them a better understanding of Noah and his OCD.  More on that later, as I will be starting to share my journey as a mother with a child and his disease.

With all that said, he went out for the football team {has never played before} since our school does not have a freshman team this year, all players will be playing JV {unless they are Varsity}.  Noah has spent the summer going to all workouts and practices.  He has learned and memorized all the plays and routes.  Even with his anxiety and struggles with the OCD, he has managed to secure himself a spot as first string defense back and wide receiver positions.  We could not be more proud.  In fact if you are reading this today {Saturday} then last night would have been our very first game of the season at home.

The jerseys were passed out this week and Noah ended up getting his older brother’s number {who played all four years} five.  We were so super jazzed.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you  that I celebrated my 47th birthday last weekend and it was very nice.  My birthday falls on the weekend right before Labor Day, so it can make for many things to do.  This was mellow, just hanging with the kids and movie night.  A date day and night with the hubby doing what you ask? ….wine tasting of course!  Even in the small town of Sonoma, we have plenty of places to go tasting and then dinner after.  The weekend ended with a family dinner at my mother’s and I requested my most fave dish of all {I ate this growing up as a kid} beef stroganoff made with filet mignon and homemade lemon meringue pie.

Okay so my mom did not make the dinner, since she said she can no longer remember the recipe, so my hubby was thrown into the kitchen and created an amazing meal.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you  that our oldest son if FINALLY back home.  He has moved back to the valley, is working at one of the popular wineries, while attending his EMT/Paramedic classes at night.  I could not be happier to have him close to home again.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you  that I just recently injured myself running.  Seems to be my hip flexor and it hurts like nothing else!  Oh my gosh, I am in pain and I am grumpy.  I have been training for my next half marathon in October and I am so stressed about not running right now.  I can’t stand not lacing up and getting outside.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you  that we have a new washing machine!  Exciting right?  Well ours was totally done for months and we were using the laundry mat {which made for some pretty comical date nights}.  Our kids are so excited to have a working machine again {I do laundry all the time}.  This is a fancy new one, with all the bells and whistles and one of those energy savers.  I actually needed to read the manual to understand it.  But happy we are with empty laundry baskets in the house.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you  all about these super cute coffee cups I got.  I attended the San Francisco gift show last month with my mom and we came across Sarah Jane Design.  I immediately feel in love with her coffee cups and just had to have some.  The “husband and wife” were perfect and I just knew my hubby would be thrilled to sport his coffee around in this.
