Random Thoughts and Being A Blogger

Blogging is so interesting.  You can be a one niche kind of blogger and be amaze balls at that subject, let’s say baking or crafting, or DIY projects {no, definitely not me}.  OR you can be a super serious writer blogger, sharing information and facts.  You can be a really great writer as a blogger and just create or write stories about fact or fiction.  You can be strictly a hardcore fitness blogger, who sticks with the basics about fitness and working out.  You can blog about meal planning.  You can be an “all around” blogger who just seems to share it all.  Blogging is not as easy as it seems.  I know because I am one and I know this because I read and follow tons of other bloggers who go through what we call “writer’s block“.  I think bloggers get a bad name sometimes, because people think we just sit around all day in our jam jams and eat boxes of chocolate and drink wine {a blogger will never tell} while we stare at our computers and wait for the words to start flowing.

Being A Blogger

We can blog about our kids and use them as our tools {always good for entertainment}.  We can go out running or workout and come back with a great post to write.  We can be in the market, or driving in the car.  We can be sitting in the airport people watching and come up with a great post.  We can devour an entire bag of chips while drinking a cup of coffee {breakfast} and come up with a great post.  The point is … blogging is all about creativity.  Sometimes we get paid for blogging, sometimes we don’t.  Some want to just blog for money, some just love to blog and the money is the cherry on top.  It is about the love of writing, sharing and well … sometimes having a pretty decent size set of balls to put ourselves out there.  The blogging community reminds me of the running community.  It is a huge network {family} out on-line {sometimes we get to meet one another} full of support, motivation and encouragement.  Blogging is fun.

15 Weird Questions

What’s a nickname only your family calls you?
When I was a teen, my family called me “motor mouth” because I just loved to talk.  My sister tends to call me Lynn every so often and my hubby has some special names that are just his.

What’s a weird habit of yours?
A weird habit, only one?  I always clean all the door handles once company leaves the house.  I clean the guest bathroom right away after having guests over. {Lysol is my fave house product}

Do you have any weird phobias?
I can not make left hand turns {ever}, I will take a right and go around the block or whatever direction in order to get to where I need to go.  I hate crossing traffic, this drives my entire family nuts.  I only pick up a penny if it is head’s up or it won’t be good luck.  I have to keep the shower door partly open when showering and rinse my face quickly as I tend to have the shower scene from Psycho in my head {totally creepy, I know}.

What’s a song you secretly LOVE to blast & belt out when you’re alone?
I love, love to sing Call me maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen.  I can’t do it anymore around the kids, they are over it.  But when it comes on in the car, they are stuck with me and my loudness.  I just love the beat, the words are catchy and easy and she is adorbs.

What’s one of your biggest pet peeves?
Again, only one…really?  Smokers, seriously! It is 2014, come on people, enough already, just quit!  When drivers do not use their turn signals.  When people don’t smile back when you smile at them {doesn’t take much to share a smile}.  People who have the mentality that blondes are just dumb, or if you are attractive you are dumb.  News flash, dumb comes in all shapes, hair color and size!  Not just blonde.

What’s one of your nervous habits?
Oh this is bad, really bad.  I am a nail biter and have been my entire life.  I have done the fake nails, and I hate them.  Yes they look amaze when on, but having to have them done every few weeks or have them break or crack is a pain in the you know what.  I wish I could stop, but I can’t.

What side of the bed do you sleep on?
I have been sleeping on my left side since my very first pregnancy.  They say that is the side to sleep on for better blood flow to the placenta.  I still and and always will, just habit now.

What was your first stuffed animal & its name?
I can not even recall my first stuffed animal, but my brown bear from Gund {I still have} was named “fudgie”.

What’s the drink you ALWAYS order at Starbucks?
I do not go to Starbucks believe it or not.  If I happen to go into one, it would be while out holiday shopping with my hubby and we share a large hot coffee and keep going.  I hate all the nonsense about ordering coffee.  It is small, medium or large.  Why on earth we need to make something so simple so complicated is beyond me?  Don’t we have enough stress going on without having to stand in line and worry about how to pronounce and roll of our tongues a drink order?

What’s the beauty rule you preach.. but never ACTUALLY practice?
I am so low maintenance, I don’t even have a beauty rule.  If I preach one it would be what I already do …
Moisturize every day with an SPF, wash your face before bed and brush always {okay I tend to take that one too far} I brush pretty much after every time I eat something.  Yes, there is a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss in my purse.

Which way do you face in the shower?
The way in which I could see the Psycho stalker come at me.  LOL

Do you have any “weird body” skills’?
Hmmm….Ummm…Hmmm nope

What’s your favorite ‘comfort food’/food that’s ‘bad’ but you love to eat it anyways?
Cheesecake is my holiday time of year comfort food.  My butt hates it.  Homemade soup for sure, my top fave comfort food.

What’s a phrase or exclamation you always say?
Super jazzed!  Re-group! Really? Shutty {I feel it is not as rude as shut up}. Stop it! {If something is just too crazy to believe}

Time to sleep- what are you ACTUALLY wearing?
Let’s get real, shall we?  Sleeping naked is the best feeling ever {especially when you hit the hot flash age}.  Soft t-shirt or tank and boy pants {undies}.  Remember this from Marilyn?

Okay, so there you have it.  Blogging and fun all at the same time.  So are you ready and willing to spill the beans?
Come on, pick one or more of the questions above and answer it in the comments section.  You know I will be reading them and will so love it.

  1. Neat post! I like the ? which way do you face in the shower? I am with you! If a crazy person of my hubby is coming after me well, they will have to look me dead in the soapy eyes first! Also, I prefer Dunkin donuts coffee over Starbucks but rarely get coffee out unless I am traveling, which saves $$ for more traveling!!!

  6. Hi there! How did I not know about your blog until today? I’m Ashley, I live in SF and love this post. First of all, blogging is a wonderful yet completely overwhelming hobby. You can really get sucked in, but you can also get so much back by engaging with people allover the world about things you care about. Your fun facts here killed me … “shutty?” I’m going to start using that. Have a good day, whether that’s in your pajamas or regular clothes.

  7. I love it and am SO blessed to have met, hung out with, HUG and really get a chance to know you a few months ago! You are THE sweetest and most down to earth person! You are SO BEAUTIFUL (inside and out) and really are a ‘low maintenance’ gal… who is SO beautiful you don’t need to spend time fixing yourself up. <3

Just wanted to hop on over and tell ya that I love ya and miss ya! 🙂

  8. Oddly, I never ever get writer’s block. I tend to come up with ideas in my sleep, in the shower, while I am working out or doing other things you don’t care to know about. In fact, I have a huge color coded list of ideas and then as time goes, I work them into the post I want based on what events are going on. About Starbs… I love it, but there comes a point where we are given entirely too many options. Can we have a “high maintenance” line for those people who have 20 word orders so I can be in and out with mine?! haha
