Tom Brady You Prefer Small Balls, Just Own It

Football

Being a huge ball football fan myself, I just had to go here.  Let’s do this, let’s chat about Brady’s balls, shall we?  Whether you are a fan or not, we have all been hearing about the latest scuttlebutt regarding the New England Patriots, Tom Brady and #deflategate.  I have watched the press conferences, I have been reading up and following along {my team did not even make playoffs and I am invested}.  Let’s go over the latest comments from Tom …

“When I pick those footballs out, at that point, to me, they’re perfect,” he said. “I don’t want anyone touching the balls after that. I don’t want anyone rubbing them, putting any air in them, taking any air out. To me, those balls are perfect, and that’s what I expect when I show up on the field.”

This statement alone, has me assuming that Tom Brady is very protective of his balls.  You can almost compare him to being a new mom.  He does not want anyone near his babies.  Don’t touch them, don’t breathe on them, he has created them and they are perfect, just step away from the babies.

Here is another statement …

Brady said he didn’t notice a difference between the footballs from the first half to the second half on Sunday.

“I’m not squeezing them, that’s not part of my process,” Brady said. “I grab it. I feel the lace, the leather. I feel the tack on the ball. That’s really what you go for.”

Wait. What?  This is not making sense.  You have been an NFL quarterback for what, 15 years?  You don’t notice how your balls feel while playing the game?  I don’t buy it.  Didn’t you mention back in 2011…

“When Gronk scores — it was like his eighth touchdown of the year — he spikes the ball and he deflates the ball. I love that, because I like the deflated ball. But I feel bad for that football, because he puts everything he can into those spikes.”

Oh Tom, then there is this …

“I feel like I have always played within the rules,” he said. “I would never break the rules.”

Come on, bending the rules, breaking the rules.  Everyone has done it.  Are you stating that you are a “true rule follower” in the NFL?  Really Tom, really?  You are very passionate about your game and when so much passion is there, chances are anything goes in order to win.  We see you on television dropping the F bomb from your mouth and yelling at refs and other players.  I get it, I drop the F bomb myself when passionate about something.  I most likely will be doing it on Super Bowl Sunday when I want the Seahawks to defeat you and your team.

I don’t mean to be a “ball buster”, but don’t you think you should just step back up on the podium and retract your statement of denial.  Just own this so everyone can focus on the big game.  Do you need to insult our intelligence?

I have no doubt that come next week, your balls will be under scrutiny for sure.  Do you think you could just enjoy the moment and the fact that you have made it to yet another Super Bowl.  Could you and your coach just be humble for one day?  Could you keep your balls in check and play by the rules you so proudly say you stand by?

  1. I’m not a football fan but my neighbor is from Boston and a HUGE Patriots fan. I have yet to get his perspective on this but how are they allowed to play if they are in violation which is what most likely go them to the Superbowl?
