The Ultimate Coffee Date February

Good morning, happy Saturday.  It is February already and it is LOVE month

Welcome back to the Ultimate Coffee Date.  If you are new to our coffee link ups then take time to get to know myself and the other co-hosts, if you are vintage then you know the drill.  Pull up your laptop, pour yourself a cup of whatever you enjoy and read on.  Either way, don’t forget to add YOUR coffee related post and share with us.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … I honestly don’t have many picture to share.  Unfortunately, the entire last few weeks of January had both our daughter and myself down and out with whatever this darn bug is.  No workouts or running at all!  Not a happy mom.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … our son Noah finished his Freshman season of football and received the Coaches Award at the end of if.   He just received the Student of the Week award AND was placed on the Principal’s Honor Roll.  So awesome and super cool.  These are great achievements for a child with a disability that he has to work with every day.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … I will be having some race discount codes very soon on the blog {and will be sharing via social media} for some fun mud and color runs and half marathons.  Stay tuned.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … I was pretty disgusted and disappointed with the latest Sports Illustrated Swim Suit edition.  IF you missed the post you can see it here, I would LOVE your thoughts.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … Never ever be afraid to stand up to something you do not believe in.  Stand up for your children and fight for them.  There were a few unfortunate instances recently that had to do with school and some teasing.  It is NEVER okay, no matter where we live or what kind of community.  Teasing and bullying go hand in hand and need to be dealt with!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … I am joining the #1000speak movement.  On February 20th, there will be 1000 + blogger from all over the world joining together on that day to write about compassion.  See here for all the details and the group page.  This is a huge deal and an amazing event.  I hope to see you there and please spread the word.

1000 Speak Voices For Conpassion

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … I so enjoy all of you and love reading your posts.  Thank you for stopping by and taking time with us.
Don’t forget to visit my co-hosts Deborah and Coco and share our badge on your sites.  Have a fabulous weekend, stay well and be fit and healthy.

  7. Congrats proud Mom, I can see you smiling! I have a child with a disability that she had to work thru – making the marching band was a huge thing! I read your sports illustrated post but it gave me a weird message and would not post my comment. I agreed with you 100% on that one- bikini bottoms are small enough can we not leave them alone??? Who ever she is will be an overnight super model for sure 🙁 Have a great weekend!

    • Thank you Mary Beth. It is so heartwarming to see our children succeed and when struggling with a disability of some sort, it is even more so. I am not sure why you could not comment? Thanks for having coffee, see you on social media 🙂

  11. Glad you are finally feeling better. Don’t even get me started with bullying at school. Thankfully things are going ok now but it didn’t start out that way. You are so right, we have to stand up for our kids!

  12. Congrats to your son on all his achievements! I just marked the date for the #1000speak posting day:-)

  13. I haven’t been sick, but mysterious foot pain has kept me from working out all week. Doesn’t make me happy either. At least I’ve gotten some extra sleep! Congrats to your son! You must be so proud. I’d probably want to know all about the bullying and how you handled it. That kind of stuff makes me so angry! It blows my mind how people talk to each other sometimes. Way to set such a great example for your kids.

    • Thank you Larissa. The teasing has come to a quick halt {I am hoping}. I took action immediately and not only headed directly to the school, but I went with all kinds of documentation needed to be armed and ready to present, as our son suffers from OCD and an anxiety disability. This places him in the 504 IEP plan and he is to be protected. I know the facts and I never feel afraid to bring them. Letting things slide under the rug or hope they work out does not sit with me. I am one who goes in and deals head on.

  14. Your comment about standing up and fighting for your kids is resonating with me. I don’t consider myself to be a helicopter mom at all but a teacher at my daughter’s school reprimanded my daughter and her friend for something they didn’t do. My daughter tried to stand up for herself but she’s fairly meek and, as a little girl, won’t challenge a teacher. Time for me to step in. I’m fretting about it.

    • MOlly, always step in. I am not too much “helicopter” mom, however I am on top of as much as I can be. The kids to keep track of their grades and assignments via the school loop program and have in the past been comfortable enough to correct a teacher if needed, but I have no problem stepping in when it comes to anything at school. Never be afraid to do that. 🙂

  15. Wow, a huge congrats to your son, what a wonderful accomplishment and recognition! As far as speaking up for our kids, I couldn’t agree more. While Ashton is only (almost) 3, I am always that Mom who asks a ton of questions and tries to stay on top of everything for him!

I hope that you and your daughter are finally feeling back to normal, you both had a rough road the past few weeks!
