Ultimate Coffee Date March

Good morning and happy Saturday.  It is the first weekend of March and we are getting together for coffee chat.  Join myself and my co-hosts Deborah and Coco as we invite all of you to link up and take some time over the weekend to read, share and comment.  Coffee is more fun when we all share.

Let’s catch up shall we?

Ulitmate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … I am actually running a 5k race this morning in Sonoma.  I am the mentor for a local high school senior and her end of year project is a 5k Run/Walk for ALS.  Her grandmother had passed from ALS two years ago and she is dedicating this project and run to her.  We have been working on it since last October and have had to comply with the city and county for regulations and permits.  It has been an amazing experience and very interesting.  I am super excited to see it come to fruition.  We have done this entire event without funds and strictly donations and volunteers.  All proceeds from this event will go to ALS.  I am very honored to have been asked to be the mentor on this project and I can’t wait to share with you the actual event.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that …  our youngest just turned 13 this past week.  Yes, are now officially parents of teenagers and a 23 year old.  Miss Faith is now 13.  She is now on the 7th grade track team and is planning on running quite a few events.  Her favorite is long distance {after my own heart}.  We are having a birthday party at the local park plaza today {yes the same day as the 5k} with eight of her friends.  I have planned a really fun project for them all.  The theme this year is “VISION“.  Faith and I went to the local craft store and purchased supplies and poster boards.  The girls will get to create their own vision boards from all the magazines we have laying around the house.  Tea sandwiches and pink lemonade will be served, along with popcorn and goodies.  I just love a party that has the kids use their imagination and creativity.  We will be outdoors for the entire time and the weather here is wonderful.  Fresh air and good times is a win win.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … the weather here in Northern California has been AMAZING.  I know, I know most of you are probably eyeball deep in snow and freezing ice cold weather {please don’t hate}.  I have been enjoying running so much.  Tank tops and sunscreen.  I am feeling really great running again, as I am injury free and have been doing months of Pure Barre.  I am feeling strong and healthy and I could not be more excited.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … The Napa Valley Zooma  race is set for the weekend of June 20th, 2015 and this race SELLS OUT!  So do most of the hotels in the area.  Napa valley is amazing and so beautiful, there are so many places to visit while here for that weekend.  The Zooma race is an all women’s run and I love being able to call myself an ambassador for them {two years now}.  Check out the race here and tell your girlfriends, make a long weekend out of it.  You can use the Promo Code LYNDA15 for 10% off your registration either race {half marathon OR 10k}.

Napa Valley Zooma 2015

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … our middle son Noah, is now on the Freshman baseball team.  About two weeks of tryouts had us in knots, but he made the cut and we are super excited for him.  The ONLY time I will sit and watch a baseball game, is when my son is playing in one {football is my sport}.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … Faith and I have a great DIY project to work on during spring break.  We have been looking for a dresser for her bedroom and I just could not bring myself to spend hundreds of dollars on one.  We have been looking around at garage and estate sales, I even asked my mom to keep her eyes open.  She did and she came through and found a great old dresser for $20 at an estate.  Faith and I have it sitting in the garage for now and we can’t wait to get working on it.  A fun project post from start to finish.  I love that Faith is really excited about doing something so creative.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … I so enjoy the first Saturday of each month.  I love seeing all of you come join us for coffee and share your own posts in the links.  The connections made are wonderful and when I am finally at a calm time during this weekend, I will be reading and commenting on all the links.  Make sure to share the Ultimate Coffee Date and tweet at @fitnessmom1 @deborahbrooks14 and @got2run4me

  1. Have fun at the run! It is wonderful that it was your mentee’s project (is that the right word?) That is one of the great things about races and runs that they raise funds and awareness for so many great causes. It sounds like a lot of rewarding work for everyone involved!

  21. That 5k project sounds cool! I’d love to do something like that in my town. I, too, am enjoying mostly good weather. It’s a relief to be living in a sunny area (Florida) while all my friends are knee deep in snow. I’ve finally gotten some internet service since I’ve been in BFE in Alabama my entire vacation, so I can now catch up on my blogging comments from the coffee date link up 😉

  22. Fun post. I always enjoy the Coffee Date ones. I missed it as I was on vacation with the kiddoes last week. We spent it in sunny San Diego. I wish I could coem up and do the Zooma race. It’s on my list. It won’t work with this year’s race schedule but I’ll keep it in mind for next year. Coffee cheers!
