Good morning everyone! Happy Easter weekend to you all. Wishing you a fun weekend filled with goodies, may they be chocolate, or nutty, or healthy. Whatever they may be, I hope you are having a great time. Are we REALLY already into the month of April? Goodness, I believe the older I am getting, the quicker life is moving. This coffee chat will be brief as I assume all of you are plenty busy this weekend. ♥
Before we get started, please make sure to be kind and visit my co-hosts Deborah and Coco. Leave your coffee related posts in the link and please take a few moments to comment and share. Make sure to tag #UltimateCoffeeDate
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … I have really noticed lately how fast the kids are growing. I don’t know what has happened or why, but I can really see a change in them. They are just so grown and mature. Our daughter is 13 and as I hate admitting this, my hubby was right, she is giving me a run for my money. Wow, I am finding myself becoming more and more a mother of a teenage daughter every day. It is so strange. It is frustrating and wonderful. My feelings that have developed during the transition of my little girl to a teenager have been something like these …
I want to pull my hair out
I want to throw a tantrum
I want cry in my pillow
I want her to be seven again
I want my husband to “take care of it”
I want to hold her
I want to brush her hair
I want to snuggle with her in bed
I want her to want to be with me
I want to enjoy shopping with her
I want to make her laugh with me not roll her eyes at me
I want her to believe I know what I am talking about
I love watching her grow and just starting to become her own person. I am looking forward to the journey and at the same time, I am holding my breath. I have a teenage daughter and this is going to be interesting.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … The Zooma Race Series still has registration open for the June 20th run in Napa Valley. Seriously, an AMAZING time in wine country for a girl friends getaway weekend. Zooma Race Series is an “All women’s run” and they have some wonderful locations. They put on great events and I am so honored to be an ambassador for a second year now. Check out Zooma and see all the race schedules. Use Code LYNDA15 for registration discount.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … I have just been given an opportunity to run a half marathon sooner than I thought. Unfortunately, a girlfriend of mine has had to withdraw herself from the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon, scheduled for Mother’s day weekend and was so kind and gracious enough to think of me and has forwarded her registration to me. While this is super awesome and very kind, it is also pretty scary. The race is less than 38 days away and I am not even close to my half marathon abilities. I could not pass this chance up, however and really had to step out of my own comfort zone and go for it. A challenge for sure and I have no idea how this will turn out. I am not familiar with the area at all, I have no idea about the route and I am just a nervous hot mess. At the same time, I am calm and at peace with my decision to challenge myself. It is exciting and I need to go with an open mind and relaxed soul. Just do the best I can and enjoy spending Mother’s day doing something that I TRULY love doing.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that … A few weeks ago, I was able to see the senior project that I was mentoring come to fruition. I had spent the last 5 months mentoring a local high school senior for her project. She wanted to do a 5k run for ALS in honor of her late grandmother. We had a lot of work and planning to do, many hoops to jump through and work with the city. The event was a success as it raised about $2300 for ALS and the support from locals was wonderful. It was so exciting to see the run come together. I could not have been happier for my mentee. What a learning experience that was for both of us. I can now say that I can plan a race event if I had to again.
Okay, this is a busy weekend and I know we don’t have much time. Thank you so much for joining us. As always we take time to comment back and visit your links. I have future posts coming more frequently and updates on my training. I am looking forward to seeing you here again before next month. Happy Easter ♥
