The Ultimate Coffee Date November

How on earth can it be November already?  I know this is cliche, but as I get older the time really does go by faster.  I really notice it with the kids.  They are growing up and I have been finding myself wanting to turn the clock back.  I have digressed, let me get back to the start …

Happy Saturday and welcome to another #UltimateCoffeeDate with myself and co-hosts Deborah and Coco.  I love stopping each month and taking a long weekend to go over your links and comments.  It is a nice way to slow down and re-group, re-connect or connect with new bloggers. ♥

Ulitmate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would chat on  about how my kids are growing too fast.  I know, they have to and I am so super proud of all of them.  I just want to stop and slow down.  Is it because I am two years from 50?  Is it because I know that Noah has only two years left in high school and miss Faith is starting next year?  Is it me seeing our oldest Mike, turn 25 and recall back when I had him at 24?  I don’t know what is going on with me.  Menopause!  That has to be it!  Yep, I am totally pointing the finger to that … the M word.  That is a topic for a later day and a lengthy chat with my doctor.

If we were having coffee, I would ramble on  about how the husband and I are celebrating our 18 year wedding anniversary today.   Yes, like pretty much every marriage out there, we have had all the experiences possible.  We have rallied together when we needed to.  We have climbed out of dark places when we had to.  We have embraced and enjoyed the happiness we have had.  We are looking forward to many more years and already chat about having an “empty nest”.  We have been so blessed all these years, regardless of the obstacles we have had to encounter and over come.

What are we doing this very early Saturday morning?  My husband has so willingly agreed to join me at the Cal Berkeley track for a workout/run along with other Berkeley Half Marathon ambassadors and whomever is out there.  An early morning start to a special day.  It is a give and take in marriage and we always support one another.  We make an amazing team for sure, I wouldn’t or couldn’t imagine a better partner for this life.  I have no doubt, that God has some great plans for us and an exciting journey ahead.

If we were having coffee, you would see me tear up  telling you about last night’s football game.   The season is over for the Sonoma Dragons  high school football team and Noah is completing his JV year.  Noah had wanted to quit football last season, but overcame the obstacles he faced with his OCD and social anxiety, to become an offense and defense starter, while playing special teams and punt return.  He by far exceeded the standard and both my husband are beyond proud.  I can’t think of a word that can describe the emotions and feelings I have for Noah and his success.  I tear up just writing about him.  Our son, is amazing, just amazing and tackles each day with struggles, but gets through.  He steps out of that comfort zone when needed and we guide and direct him while supporting him and cheering him on.  Lesson to all of us, we CAN accomplish anything we set our minds to and if we want something bad enough, it is obtainable.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you  the two giveaways going on right now on the blog.  You still have time to enter {all weekend}.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you  that I am running my last half marathon of the season.  The Berkeley Half Marathon is November 22nd and I will wrap up the season with that.  We have the Napa Valley Turkey Trot 5k the day before.  Our daughter and I run that together every year.  I am re-grouping my running and training as my husband challenged me to tackle a full marathon next year.  This will be an entire new way of planning, running, and training that I have not taken on yet, so a bit scary.  However, like I said, we CAN accomplish anything if we want it badly enough.

Thank you so much for joining us this weekend.  I am looking forward to checking out your coffee related posts and reading your comments.  I do get back to you {slowly} but surely.  Don’t forget to tweet and share our #UltimateCoffeeDate enjoy your weekend, happy Fall. ♥

  1. My kids are a junior and freshman so we also talk about becoming Empty Nesters in the new few year. I am trying to avoid that thought ! While I am so proud of my kids and who they are growing up to be, and leaving the house is a natural part of life… its still a big thing. Sounds like your running is going well. I have started training for my first marathon at 45. I am using the Jeff Galloway training program and so far, it is treating my body really really well. Thanks for the link up !

  2. My last two kids are a high school senior and sophomore. The empty nest is coming soon for me. How wonderful for you to soon starting training for a full marathon. I did that this summer and was forced to DNS with a foot injury. But, I hope I can salvage my registration in the next one scheduled in January. Happy Anniversary! Have a wonderful weekend.

  3. That coffee mug is awesome. I may have actually bought one similar a couple of years ago for my boss. 🙂 Good luck with your races. You are going to close out this year super strong! I’m a little jealous because I have barely raced at all this year. But 2016 is right around the corner and it’s a new year!! But let’s not wish time away, we still have time in 2015 to live!

I wish I was going to be around the area for the Napa Turkey Trot, but I’m heading to Florida. Maybe next year. We still need to meet up for wine one day!

  14. Happy anniversary to you and your husband!!! Isn’t it amazing how quickly the time goes by? I’ve only been married for about 5.5 years but it feels like it has gone by in the blink of an eye. Likewise – I don’t have kids, but it’s crazy seeing how quickly my friends’ kids and my nieces and nephews grow up.

Good luck at the Berkeley Half and the Napa Valley Turkey Trot! Time to close out the racing year with a bang!!!

  37. I love the idea of the UltimateCoffeeDate, I may have to join one of these weeks! My baby is still just that (he’s only 2) and I have another on the way in April and I’m already feeling like time is going too fast. We’ve started talking about pre-school and I can’t even believe that it’s almost time for that. I was complaining to my mother the other day about how lately he’s been climbing back in our bed and her response was “well, don’t blink because in about 18 years it won’t be YOUR bed he’s climbing into” …. HAHAHAHA!!

  38. Congrats on 18 years of marriage! Congrats on starting to train for your first full! Can’t wait to see where your training takes you. 🙂
