Merry Christmas Recap

Christmas day has come and gone, but the I am keeping the holiday feeling alive {at least around here}.  Normally the tree is down first thing the next morning, however I just couldn’t bring myself to do it this year.  I instead met myself halfway and took all the ornaments off and neatly wrapped each one back into tissue paper and placing gently into the green and red storage box that clearly means Christmas stuff only.  The Pandora station is still set to the holiday station until the first of the new year {I sense a mutiny coming from the family}.

Christmas went just as I set out to have it go.  The shopping was done weeks early and since Faith is old enough and loves keeping busy, she did all the wrapping for everyone {except herself}.  This meant the closet was organized and everything was ready.  Santa and his Mrs. had a wonderful Christmas Eve.  After spending the evening with family on the in-law side, they delivered gifts to the stockings at home and enjoyed wine and a holiday classic.  Peaceful and quiet.

Christmas morning starts once the coffee is ready.  Presents are opened one at a time {yes, I am that way}, I want the morning to last as long as possible.  Breakfast is made and everyone just hangs out.  We wait for Christmas dinner and see more family.

So grateful for each and every blessing we are given.  Prayers and thoughts go out this time of year for many who seem to struggle with the holidays for whatever reasons.  The holidays are not perfect, family is not perfect.  Giving thanks and prayer to the Lord is perfect.

Were you able to calm the world around you and keep the stress down?
Did you just go with the flow?
Were you traveling by plane, car, train?

  1. Our Christmas was pretty mellow since we don’t have kids yet and didn’t have to travel far. It was quieter than the holidays with my family (we spent it with his family), but still a very nice couple of days.

  2. Beautiful post. This is my favorite Christmas re-cap ever! I love how graceful and elegant your table looked and that you took the time to savor every minute of the day. There’s part of me that’s ready to have my house back to normal and part of me that isn’t. Our tree remains up until after the New Year and i’m savoring it.

  3. We had. Laid back one. Played with trains, a few board games and then friends came over for dinner

  4. Your table looks absolutely beautiful. I am glad you had such a peaceful and lovely Christmas with family. I haven’t touched one decoration yet. I am waiting until …I am not sure when. The first thing I still do every morning is turn the tree lights on. I love Christmas tree lights. This was my most stress-less season so far and next year it’ll be even better. I am finally learning how to enjoy more and stress less, which is a wonderful thing. I wish all the best for you and yours in the upcoming year! Happy 2016 Lynda!

  8. Your table is set so beautifully 🙂 And I love the sentiment at the end. It’s so very true, and it’s important to remember that for many, the holidays are an incredibly painful/difficult time of year. Thank you so much for sharing and glad you had a joyful, coffee filled, peaceful(ish) Christmas 🙂 XOXO
