Setting Goals 2016

goalsetting

The end of the year has me thinking so many things.  I swear if I don’t stop and just take a breath, my head will spin off.  I know we tend to gather up all the odds and ends by end of the year and create our lists of everything we want to do, complete, accomplish and goal for the new year coming.  I am so guilty of this, however I want to put the brakes on and stop.

I want to take many minutes a good day to be quiet and still with my mind.
I want to soak in the past year and remember.
I want to sit and listen to the Christmas music playing on the Pandora station in the house.
I want to sit and finish that cup of tea quietly.
I want to lay on the couch at night and stare at the tree while getting lost in all the lights and beauty.
I want to wrap up this year slowly and enjoy it.

Moving forward … the new year is close and 2016 is a new clean slate.  Learning from the past 12 months, I want to grow and move forward.

What did I not complete?
Did I really push myself enough out of the comfort zone?
Did I hit the goals I had for the past year?
Did I learn anything new?

What do I aspire to for the new year?

Running. I want to complete six {6} half marathons this next year.  Why six? It was a number I had thought of a while back and rounded pretty evenly with the twelve months.

Training. Since I have such a goal for my running, that means I must take my training seriously.  I want to work with a running coach and really focus on becoming a better runner.

Blogging. I dream of writing all the time, however I get distracted and then I don’t complete what I start.  I want to become a blogger who is reliable and have my readers know that I am actually here and ready to share all my wonderful, crazy, beautiful, funny, outspoken, honest, heartwarming and motivating thoughts right here in my little corner of the blogosphere.

Cooking.  I want to get back to sharing and creating recipes.  I love getting in the kitchen {not to bake} but cook.  I want to work together with my husband to get that e-book completed and out by fall of next year.

Eating.  We eat pretty healthy here at home and are really great about cooking and prepping fresh food.  But I just picked up the most amazing book while out shopping last week and I am so excited to dive into it.  This is a teaser, you will have to come back if you want to hear more about it.

Reading.  I would love to make that time for myself to read more.  Lord knows I read plenty of other blogs and I am always staying on top of the latest magazines that have to do with health, fitness, running and food.  It has been way too long since I sat with a good book.

Parenting.  I think I have this one down.  It never hurts to keep working at being the best mom I can be for my kids.  They are growing so fast.  Our oldest Mike is 24, Noah is 15 and miss Faith is turning 14 in March.  I can’t imagine how much more I can be there for each of them, but I know there is always a way to continue to build family time and make it stronger.

Travel.  I want to travel more next year as a family.  This is difficult with a child who has anxiety, so my goal is to get creative with family travel.

I have no doubt there will be more to add to this list.  For now, this is a great start.

Have you thought about your 2016 Goals?
Did you accomplish what you wanted to this past year?

Great post! I am running one 1/2 marathon in March, how I do depends on if I do one or two more. The most exciting thing for me in 2016 is, after looking on and off for the past for year, I start a new job on 18th January! I am so excited!!!

  7. I always wish I had more time to read every year too! Great goals- hopefully they’ll be accomplished next year 🙂

  8. I was just thinking about 2016 goals today while driving to the gym. I need to do a post on this! One is definitely to start my personal training business. I am going to keep it small so I can focus on my baby but I am ready to start helping others 🙂 2016 is going to be great!

  9. I love that you have goals in so many different categories. The font color though is a bit light and hard to read.

  10. I can so relate to wanting to slow down and take it all in. I can’t believe 2015 is almost over! I hope to find time in the next week and a half to simply sit quietly and think about all that has occurred this year and what I hope 2016 will bring. Next year I hope to be a better person, mother, wife, boss, employee, etc… I also hope to really figure out what I want to do with my blog.

  11. Great goals! Running 6 half marathons sounds great, and I know I want to cook more in 2016 too! I ordered a blogging planner that I’m really looking forward to getting super organized!

  17. That’s a great set of goals!

6 half marathons in a year will be a great challenge for you. I’ve decided to do 2 next year.

I also want to read more in 2016. I managed to read 12 books this year but I’d like to read more. I get too distracted reading blogs and magazines!
