The Ultimate Coffee Date 2016 #6

Good morning and hello to a new month!  So here we are again, the first Saturday of the month and we are meeting for coffee.  I am so happy to be joining my co-hosts Deborah and Coco and I am so looking forward to catching up.  Let’s go with this first …

I have taken a very much too long break from blogging as I have been taking time just living each day being “un-plugged” from the keyboard.  I have had many ideas in my mind about what I have wanted to write about and share with all you, however I just needed to get myself into the right frame of mind.  Blogging is not easy {I am no professional} when I do write, I want to be as authentic as possible and hopefully have you connect with me and really feel what I am sharing.  Okay, lets chat and catch up.

While we are having coffee, I am sharing with you that our miss Faith has graduated from the 8th grade.  She was one of the students in her class to receive the Presidential Academic Award for her grades all three years of middle school.  She is now ready to head to high school and I have no doubt she will achieve and accomplish so much.

While we are having coffee, I am sharing with you that Noah is going to be a Junior next year.  He just wrapped up his JV baseball season and has been attending the Varsity football workouts and training for the past two weeks every day after school.  We are so looking forward to football season {my most favorite} and can’t wait to watch Noah follow in his older brother’s footsteps as a superstar on the field.

While we are having coffee, I am sharing with you that I have yet to get back into my running routine.  Not sure when, but I assume I will pick it up again soon {fingers crossed}, I guess it is just like blogging, I need to be in the right frame of mind.  I am attending my Pure Barre classes regularly and am so happy to be doing so.  I had taken some time off from the “Barre” and I notice a huge difference in my body and my attitude.  The weight gain and the lack of energy.  I was so disappointed in myself and needed to dig deep and pull myself out of what ever was going on and get back to it.

Pure Barre Platform Class

While we are having coffee, I am sharing with you that I have given myself my own personal challenge.  Two weeks ago, I arrived to Pure Barre class and announced {to anyone who would listen} that I was doing 30 days of Pure Barre, in a row!  Yep, my goal had to be set like that to push myself.  I have been keeping track each day by placing my little red Pure Barre stickers on the kitchen calendar.  Here is a break down of what my days look like as of now …

May 16th – 26th every day with four “double days”, meaning of course I did two classes in one day.
May 28th – 30th
June 1st and 3rd
As you see, I am trying to stay on track but had missed a few in between due to other things coming up during the day.  Now that the kids are out of school for the summer, I plan on sticking with this and attending every day here on out.  In fact, I am most likely at a class now while you are reading this.

While we are having coffee, I am sharing with you that we have heard from our oldest son, he is doing amazing in his AIT program with the Army.  Basic training graduation was amazing and so emotional.  He has earned promotions already and leads his company at his current location.  He will be heading to the Airborne Program sometime this summer and from their the Ranger program.  He will be graduating and returning home for a few weeks before being deployed at a location.  It makes me so proud and happy to hear him tell us how much he loves the choice he has made.  It takes a very special type of person to want to take this career choice on and make such a decision to fight for our country.

While we are having coffee, I am sharing with you that I am so ready to get back to writing more regularly and share with you real life stories about being a mom and incorporating our way of living a healthy lifestyle.  I am also starting a new segment on the blog called Pure Barre Life.  I am figuring out how I want to incorporate this into the blog and how often, but I figure since I live each day at the Barre and I truly enjoy the workout, I would want to share more of it with all of you.

  1. Congrats to your daughter and sons on their accomplishments. I love seeing my girls grow up. Sophomore and senior next year. Scary ! I think it is normal that what we like changes over time and mindset is a huge part of it. I cut way back on my volunteering at school this year and while I do miss connecting with people I really really like, I needed the extra (down) time. I am a lot less rushed and have been focusing much more this year on family.

    • I am finished with my school volunteering and will now just enjoy still being a car pool mom instead 🙂 I love slowing down and not being rushed, it is so good for the soul. I can’t wait to be able to travel to your area Karen {one day} my hubby and I will enjoy it so much. 🙂

    • Oh Coco, that is a bummer to hear about your first Pure Barre experience. I know that it takes a few weeks to really get the feel for it and get the technique down. Sometimes it might depend on how much attention the instructor will give a new client, I notice that in our classes. Yes so much going on off line and I need to unplug when I am not 100% in.   3. I don’t think we have a Pure Barre here, but I work out at home anyway, so I do Physique57 sometimes. Don’t forget your rest days, though! They ARE important.

    Kudos to all your children — it’s obvious you’re doing a good job with them. And you’re right, the choice to serve our country takes a special person.

    • I have no idea what Physique 57 is, but heck sounds like a description of us in our 50’s Judy 🙂 I tried working out at home, but honestly I am horrible at it. I get so distracted, I need to be held accountable for, so going each day helps. Rest days for sure and thank goodness Pure Barre has different options of classes. The Platform {high intense} the regular and lite. That helps. I am just wondering if I will ever get back to my running. ??

  4. Congratulations to you and your kiddos! Those are all major accomplishments and they couldn’t have gotten where they are without the love and support of their mom! Unplugging from the keyboard is no biggie when you have so many other things needing your attention. 😉

    • Hi Lara, thank you. I feel like unplugging is kind of like spring cleaning LOL
      I just clear my head and step away. I take on my mom role a bit more {my kids are so thrilled about that} but I just need that quiet time away from the computer. I always hope and assume my blog circle will be there once I re appear. I am looking forward to the summer and writing again. Thank you so much for coffee and for being here.

    • Yes Deborah, they are all doing amazing. I could not ask for more and be more proud. Life is good and we are all blessed. I am so grateful for what we are given and the opportunity for the down time when I need it. Pure Barre amazes me, I can’t believe the shape I get into once I am going consistently.   8. Congratulations on your daughter’s achievement! I have one more still in high school. He will be a junior next year. I can understand wanting (or needing) to be unplugged. Sometimes I wonder why I’m sitting in front of a computer when I could be outside experiencing life. I have never tried Pure Barre but everything I hear is about how tough it is.     It is so hard with a busy family life, to squeeze fitness in. I don’t even have a young son anymore and I struggle to keep up lol
    I have not tried barre, but it looks to be a great strength training class 🙂 That is great you committed!

  10. I took a 6 week blogging break in part of March and April– I needed it. I used to The Dailey Method 3-4 times a week before the little guy was born– now there just isn’t time but i REALLY miss it 🙁

  12. Sounds like the family is doing very well! Good luck with your PB challenge, that is super! I am working on a plank and push up challenge and doing anything for 30 days in a row is super tough! except for eating, I have that one down pat- LOL! thank yoy for coffee!

  14. Nice catching up! Congrats to all of your children, they sound very bright and talented! Blogging can get to be a drag sometimes, and I do think that sometimes we just need a break to recharge. Barre is a great workout that I’ve only done a few times but wonder how it would go if I went more consistently. Your new blog series sounds great!

  15. Congratulations to all of your children on their awesome accomplishments! I totally relate to the blogging “block” – writing is a lot of hard work and to me, it doesn’t always feel like it’s worth the time. I’m thankful to only blog on a hobby basis – can you imagine being a full-time blogger and all the pressure it would create? That is AMAZING that you are doing 30 consecutive days of Pure Barre. I struggled to do those classes even two days in a row. It took me several weeks to be able to do more than 4 Pure Barre classes a week! Kudos to you for your amazing perseverance!

  17. Congratulations to the kids on their achievements, it sounds like they’re doing amazing!

    I think every blogger goes through a phase at one point or another where they just need a break – I find that a little break rekindles my love for the blog and gets me inspired to write more blog posts!

    It’s totally the same with running too, I have been through a phase lately where I am really just not feeling running, however, I find that having a break from running actually makes me want to start running again which is totally weird!

    I just don’t force it or I won’t enjoy it, just wait for the ‘want’ to come back and then get back on it! 🙂
