A Girl Can Dream Right?

When did October get here?  What on earth happened to me since my last time writing?  Where have I been?  What is going on with me?   These are just a few things running through my mind currently.  I seemed to have taken a break from the computer and replaced my time binge watching everything and all things that have to do with this election.  I won’t get into a political war on my blog about the candidates and policies {has anyone talked policies}?  I will however admit that I have a serious problem, I can’t seem to walk away or turn it off.  I want to, I really really do, but I can’t.  It is now to the point where every t.v. in the house shows the last watched section and BRAVO has been replaced with CNN and Fox News.  I don’t know which has more views, because I go back and forth so much.

I feel as though I am watching a Bravo original each time I watch a debate.  Tonight should be no different, right?  I am actually at the point of crying and laughing both together at one time.  I am just waiting for the table podium flipping to happen. I DVR Saturday Night Live every week because, hello it’s awesome!  But really, it isn’t awesome, none of this is.  Nothing about this year’s election is funny, I guess we have to laugh and make fun because the laughter keeps us sane?  It is shocking to me that my kids are so interested in this.  They actually mention that they can’t wait to watch a debate.  I would be happy about this, IF I knew they were actually learning something and seeing adults communicate with one another in an adult manner.  Only, they are not able to see that, they are watching bullying and intimidation.  They see somewhat of reality show gone bad and unfortunately that is the future.  This is how adults with some power in the country treat one another and other people?  I want them to understand history and politics.  I wish for my children to have something to look forward to in their future, to have adults and leaders to look up to.  How do I accomplish this?  How does this mom explain this mess?  I’m tired, my head hurts, my heart aches and I am nervous.

This is what has happened to me lately, I got sucked into the vortex of nonsense.  I have been pulled in and can’t get out.  I want out, I want to get out badly and live in my own world of flowers, bubbles, balloons, sunny skies, rainy days, dark chocolate, people respecting one another, people agreeing (nicely) to disagree and smiles at one another.  Is that so bad?  Go ahead say it, I’m totally delusional, I know it.  But that’s okay, a girl can dream right?

So, with all that said.  I am happy to be back to my writing.  I have so much to say and I need to share, it is good for the soul.  On another note, let me share with you the latest new favorites I have added to my Fall t.v. watching …

I found this on Pinterest the other day and it pretty much says it all …

I also like Ellen DeGeneres who sign's off from her popular talk show everyday with the words "Be kind to one another":

  1. I too love politics this year, I can’t help with the strange facination either about all the crap going on with it.
I actually already voted, just yesterday with the vote my mail since I am living away from my polling location and I don’t want to change all my information. Even though, I am really looking forward to the debate tonight and can’t help it moreso for entertainment reasons!
I don’t think we are alone either, there are many of us with a strange curiosity towards all things this year, or then there is the other half who can’t stand to hear another word, I am not sure if there even is a middle ground this time.
But no matter what happens, its making a lot more people involved in politics or caring about it so if anything this may just be the greatest thing politically for our country to get people to wake up and use their powers to vote, regardless of which way!

  2. From over here in the UK it doesn’t look like the election results, no matter what they may be, will bring much in the way of peace and harmony. The reports here show it as quite a bitter campaign and you are right, not much on policy from either side apart from that infamous wall!

I hope for your sake you find some harmony and respect away from the elections and find some clear head space too!

  3. I have kind of tuned out on the politics…which is not good. I might actually be interested in watching a debate if they actually talked about what they planned to do instead of what the other candidate did (in recent or distant past). There’s a reason I’m an artsy-farsty person…it gives me my own little world of happiness 😉 Great to see you in the Hop again!

  4. It scares me how fascinated children are with this election! I’ve talked to 4th graders who have asked their parents to move out of the country if Trump is elected and on the other side I’ve talked to kids who think everything wrong with this country is because of minorities and immigrants. What can children learn from all this, really? Nothing that will make them more better human beings. I’ve resorted to watching Peppa Pig with my 6 year old.

  5. I have to admit that I am steering clear of election coverage this year. I currently can’t stand watching it! I do read about it since that seems to be easier for me to digest though.

PS. I’m happy you are back to your writing too!

  6. Even though I’m a Social Studies teacher, I’m finding it very difficult to watch the debates in their entirety. Why can’t we all just get along?!?

  7. Ugh, I just can’t deal any more. I deliberately stayed away from watching the debate yesterday because it just has a negative impact on my emotional well being. Though that’s pretty cool that your kids are interested! Hopefully it’s just this election cycle and things won’t be as bad in the future.

  8. It would be wonderful if we could all just simplify it to “be a nice human!” That is a wonderful slogan to live by 🙂 I hope that we can all embrace a more positive future.

  9. I have talked more about politics than ever before this cycle – largely because I’m voting a way I didn’t anticipate because I simply CAN’T vote for Trump. I get sucked in and get pretty caught up in the debates and the commentary…then I go watch Shameless on Netflix :).

  10. Yay!!! So glad to have you back! …and I feel you on the election. It’s like a trainwreck that I can’t stop watching, but hopefully this insanity will end soon (it has to, right!?!). At least there’s been some pretty awesome satire that’s come out of it? (If only it weren’t our actual reality right now though… ._.) I sent in my mail-in ballot last week!

I’m super behind on basically every TV show I used to follow. :[ Someday I’ll catch up (or so I like to tell myself)!

  11. So many truths and unfortumatey our current reality and future four years is almost here. It seemed so impossible when this all began but now we are here and it’s really all unfolding. I could understand the interest and the wanderived it’s like watching a train wreck seeing the worse praying for the best but ultimately knowing it’s not good. It’ll be decided very shortly so you can continue to indulge for just a few more weeks but glad your going back to something you love.

  12. I can’t believe it has come to this! Hopefully it ends up as just a wake up call – it could obviously end up way worse for our country!

  13. I just can’t even with the election. I’m honestly so tired of hearing about it, thinking about it…it all just makes me very anxious. But it is like a train wreck k–you can’t drag your eyes away.

Welcome back to the blogging land!

  14. I have never been into politics too much, but after watching West Wing, I am hooked to US politics and had to keep up with this year’s election. Interesting is what I shall say for now!!
