Pure Barre and Running

By now most of us {I assume} has heard of Pure Barre.  The workout using the ballet bar, that cute little red ball, that looks similar to the red bounce ball we played with on the school yard {only smaller} and the stretching bands.  Yep, that’s the one.  Well I am a HUGE fan of Pure Barre and I have been incorporating the workout with my running for over a year now.  Wow, what a difference. Benefits of Pure Barre for running … {my version} Stamina Stronger core Arm strength while using when running Killer calf muscles Ankles {finally} Lean legs Toned Strong hamstrings, glutes and quads Toned inner thighs Great buttocks {that Pure Barre ledge} Running is not a new thing for me, I have actually been running for years.   I was running in my 20’s often and then again in my 30’s.  It wasn’t until the last almost…  Read More…

Happy Healthy and Fit Giveaway

September is here and to be honest, I am really ready for Fall.   We have been in the midst of a crazy heat wave, most of California seems to be on fire and we are in a severe drought situation.  I am so looking forward to the next season and some much needed rain and weather.   Fall can mean that most of us tend to get pretty comfortable with our routine and sometimes slack off a bit.  We cozy up, start making comfort food meals, wear more clothing and well to be honest, we just pretty much fall off the fitness wagon.  Right?  Come on, be honest.  I am raising my hand high right now, because I find myself easily falling into that routine. I don’t want the Fall season to be my “forget about fitness” season.  I plan on getting myself out there and continuing with my running and…  Read More…

Zarbee’s Naturals

*Disclosure – I received product and compensation from said company for my review.  All enthusiasm is my own and real. ♥ Summer is wrapping up and the school year is starting.  This means our schedule is in full swing and with the Fall season approaching, we have a lot going on.  Practices for the kids, attending their sporting events, carpooling, packing lunches, staying on top of the shopping, keeping up with the laundry … pretty much running the house while staying organized and on track.  As a stay home mom, I do have the options to keep going at a high pace or just relax a bit and take the day slowly.  I can make time for my running, a Pure Barre class or a nap.  I believe that a healthy lifestyle is key to success.  Staying fit, being active, eating right and always finding time for exercise is crucial to…  Read More…

The Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon is A Must Run

About two weeks ago, I had the amazing opportunity to run the Napa to Sonoma Wine CountryHalf Marathon and I could not have been more excited.  This race has been on my wish list for a few years and being invited as a blogger/runner was a huge thrill and honor for me.  Before I get into my own personal recap and experience, let me start by saying that Destination Races put together a MOST amazing weekend race event and holds nothing back.  I was very impressed with every detail {although I was not able to attend the pre-race dinner or the morning yoga because of other obligations} I enjoyed the perks of the VIP package. Let’s just start with Friday night.  A very intimate Welcome Reception was held at Cuvasion Winery which is the start place of the race.  The evening had wine, food samples and speeches from the race…  Read More…

When Mom Gets the Flu

Well I was on a roll last week, the weather here in Northern California has been amazing.  Perfect for running, walking.  I have been killing it in my Pure Barre classes and sticking to a great routine.  That’s it right there, ROUTINE … I knew things were going to well. Miss Faith arrives home from school not feeling well.  Great, let’s get this taken care of quickly, let’s nip this in the bud.  Rest, rest soup, Ginger Ale and Tylenol.  We got this.  Noooo, we don’t.  Four days later, things are not looking up.  A visit to the doctor some antibiotics and more rest.  Seven days of sleeping and resting.  Okay moms, we know the drill, this is NOT our first rodeo showdown with a nasty bug.  Heck no.  We just need to  keep the house clean and as germ free as possible.  All the while telling ourselves we are…  Read More…

Napa Valley Turkey Trot and Lot’s Of Rain

The 2nd Annual Napa Valley Turkey Trot was this past weekend.  Faith and I have been so looking forward to running this race again for our second time.  A beautiful morning in the Napa Valley, the cool crisp,  late Fall air and the sun coming up and shining down on us as we run 3.2 miles.  WAIT … what?  Hold on, let’s back this up. If you live hear or have been paying attention to our California rain situation, you would know that we are in dire need of water and a good hearty rain season.  Did we think that on the day we were to get up early and head out for this event, that it would be that particular day the good graces of mother nature would pour down on us?  {Literally}. Well, she did.  Waking at 5:3o a.m. to make coffee, I stared out the window trying…  Read More…

My Warrior Dash Experience Nor Cal

The Warrior Dash,  yes this was one of those events on my “to do” list.  Well I did it and my experience was memorable.  *This event was done last October and with the next one coming up, I figured what a great time to share this.*  As usual, I had the hubby up at the crack of dawn to join me on the day’s venture.  This day was different than other race/event days, today I had our oldest son and his {then} girlfriend join us.  Trying to get two 20 something year old kids up before the sun rises is a task in itself.  We managed to wrangle ourselves into the car with breakfast bars and coffee and we were off.  The drive to the location was about 2 hours from the house, so we were settled in. A quick stop along the way to pick up a gal friend…  Read More…
