Nike Women’s Half Marathon 2015

Running has been a daily steady routine for me the past few months.  After my last half marathon this past summer, I knew I had to get prepared for my next one, the Nike Women’s Half Marathon here in San Francisco.  This is a race that has been on my run “wish list” for a few years now and I had hoped to be one of the lucky “golden ticket” winners to get chosen via the lottery.  As luck would have it, I had been invited to run this amazing race via Nike and Six:02.  The Nike Women’s Half has been popular for years and it has an enormous amount of runners from all over traveling to San Francisco to attend.  With an expectation of over 30,000 runner’s this year,  I have no doubt this will be an experience of a lifetime. Nike is changing things up a bit this…  Read More…

The Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon is A Must Run

About two weeks ago, I had the amazing opportunity to run the Napa to Sonoma Wine CountryHalf Marathon and I could not have been more excited.  This race has been on my wish list for a few years and being invited as a blogger/runner was a huge thrill and honor for me.  Before I get into my own personal recap and experience, let me start by saying that Destination Races put together a MOST amazing weekend race event and holds nothing back.  I was very impressed with every detail {although I was not able to attend the pre-race dinner or the morning yoga because of other obligations} I enjoyed the perks of the VIP package. Let’s just start with Friday night.  A very intimate Welcome Reception was held at Cuvasion Winery which is the start place of the race.  The evening had wine, food samples and speeches from the race…  Read More…

Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon

Running season is upon us and I  love it.  I have a bucket list of races {half marathons} I am wanting to get done this year one of them was  is the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon.  For the most obvious reason, the race ends right here in Sonoma on the plaza literally just blocks away from our house.  This is one of those races that opens for registration and instantly sells out, so getting myself a spot has been pretty much impossible and I just assumed it might never happen for me.  Someone in the race heavens must have been listening to me, I was contacted by Destination Races and invited to run this particular half marathon.  I had to pinch myself and read the email again {insert happy dance}. I don’t have much time to get ready since race day is July 19th.  However, I am just two…  Read More…

Napa Valley Turkey Trot and Lot’s Of Rain

The 2nd Annual Napa Valley Turkey Trot was this past weekend.  Faith and I have been so looking forward to running this race again for our second time.  A beautiful morning in the Napa Valley, the cool crisp,  late Fall air and the sun coming up and shining down on us as we run 3.2 miles.  WAIT … what?  Hold on, let’s back this up. If you live hear or have been paying attention to our California rain situation, you would know that we are in dire need of water and a good hearty rain season.  Did we think that on the day we were to get up early and head out for this event, that it would be that particular day the good graces of mother nature would pour down on us?  {Literally}. Well, she did.  Waking at 5:3o a.m. to make coffee, I stared out the window trying…  Read More…

The Zooma Napa Valley Half Marathon Is Back 2015

I have some exciting news to share this morning!  The Zooma Women’s Race Series  is back in Napa Valley  and I could not be more excited.  Last year was the inaugural year for this race and it was such a huge success, they are doing this again.  I had the opportunity to be a race ambassador  last year and had an amazing time.  I was working with other great women {fellow ambassadors}, I was training hard, meeting new people and just enjoying and embracing being a runner.  I had low expectations for myself as it was my first half marathon, but to my surprise {and my hubby’s}, I actually did pretty well. The race date this year is June 20th, 2015  and you have the options running a 10k or half marathon.  This makes for an amazing get away weekend with girlfriends.  Napa Valley has so much to offer,…  Read More…

Napa Valley Turkey Trot 2014

It’s back and it’s in the wine country.  The 2nd Annual Napa Valley Turkey Trot.   So excited, I loved running this 5k with daughter last year.  It is located at the Napa Valley College.  The route is great, just enough flat, with a touch of hills and slope {not too many}.   Last year they had walkers, runners, strollers and dogs.  Everyone is welcome to join in and the morning is full of great energy. The Turkey Trot and Salvation Army work together to feed 100 Napa families {or more}.  This run is not only fun, but a great way to support around holiday season.  Families and runners can donate turkeys and/or food for the drive. The event is Saturday, November 22, 2014 and there is a discount code you can use for $5 off your registration TROTTER So are you going to be heading out for the Turkey Trot? Have…  Read More…

My Warrior Dash Experience Nor Cal

The Warrior Dash,  yes this was one of those events on my “to do” list.  Well I did it and my experience was memorable.  *This event was done last October and with the next one coming up, I figured what a great time to share this.*  As usual, I had the hubby up at the crack of dawn to join me on the day’s venture.  This day was different than other race/event days, today I had our oldest son and his {then} girlfriend join us.  Trying to get two 20 something year old kids up before the sun rises is a task in itself.  We managed to wrangle ourselves into the car with breakfast bars and coffee and we were off.  The drive to the location was about 2 hours from the house, so we were settled in. A quick stop along the way to pick up a gal friend…  Read More…

Sisters Crush Breast Cancer 5k

Fall is just around the corner and we think of colors, leaves, pumpkins, chilly weather, foggy mornings, comfort food, baking, getting cozied up and just embracing the season coming.  Well it also means October  is near and that is the month for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Maybe we don’t speak of it much, maybe we are afraid to talk about it, maybe we have a personal connection or story about it, either way it is all around us and we see Pink everywhere.  Ribbons, buttons, shirts, shoelaces, tennis shoes {the runner in me} workout wear, kitchen appliances, pink NFL uniforms, etc. Pink just happens to be pretty much my most favorite color, but it is a reminder to me that it stands for something … something very powerful.  Powerful because Breast Cancer is strong.  It takes over and can sometimes win OR sometimes lose.  Pink is pretty, Breast Cancer is NOT!…  Read More…
