Hello November

I loved waking this morning to the cool air coming through the window.  No rain today, but a fall chill with just the right amount of sun {California weather}.  It’s Sunday and the first weekend of November is here.  My favorite time of year is now starting.  We are done with October, Halloween is over.  In my mind, this is the start of Fall.  The kids are starting to sleep in a bit longer on the weekends, even the dog stays snuggled up.  I am taking in the quiet while lying in bed, because I know that once my feet hit the floor, it will be a very busy morning … I have plans and they include work and a to do list with the hubby. I don’t know if it is the time of year or what,  but moving a bit slower and taking more time to get things…  Read More…

Random Thoughts and Being A Blogger

Blogging is so interesting.  You can be a one niche kind of blogger and be amaze balls at that subject, let’s say baking or crafting, or DIY projects {no, definitely not me}.  OR you can be a super serious writer blogger, sharing information and facts.  You can be a really great writer as a blogger and just create or write stories about fact or fiction.  You can be strictly a hardcore fitness blogger, who sticks with the basics about fitness and working out.  You can blog about meal planning.  You can be an “all around” blogger who just seems to share it all.  Blogging is not as easy as it seems.  I know because I am one and I know this because I read and follow tons of other bloggers who go through what we call “writer’s block“.  I think bloggers get a bad name sometimes, because people think we…  Read More…

The 100 Percent Mom

Being a mom is the most rewarding yet most thankless jobs ever {am I right}?  Come on, we know it.  Whether we are stay at home moms, or working moms, it is a job that requires us to be 100% all the time.  Okay let’s back up …. When I say the 100% comment, I don’t mean we need to be perfect.  Obviously we are NOT.  However, we sure put a lot of pressure on us to be the best moms we can be OR be the better mom than “that” one {you know, the mom who just seems like she has all her shit together ducks in a row}. I am very type A and very organized.  I take so much pride in having structure and routine and a very clean house.  Sure the beds are made many mornings before the kids even leave for school and yes I…  Read More…

#BlOGTOBER14 DAY 8 – A Letter To Myself In 10 Years

I love when I have some quiet time {mostly mornings} to go through and catch up on reading.  I am not reading a book or magazine, I tend to read other blogs.  Just last week, I was so happy to stumble upon Ange, Taylor and Helene and found the Blogtober14 blogging prompt challenge.  What a great way to spend October. Today is day 8 of the prompt and it is a letter to ourselves in 10 years.  I enjoyed going through as many of the linked blogs that I could get to and in doing so, I had noticed that {so far}, I seem to be pretty much the oldest of the bloggers, which would make my letter really dated.  Anyway, age does not matter, taking time to reflect and send myself something for 10 years from now shall be fun. Dear me … Are you reading this 10 years…  Read More…

A Team United

High school, the time of your life when you are free.  Free to be young, active, alive and just having a blast.  Learning new things, making mistakes, going to dances, parties, driving, playing sports, dating.  Our children are growing and glowing bright in these years.  They are making their way forward into the big huge world out there and we could not be more proud and excited for them.  Every once in a while a bump, a hiccup, a road block  seems to throw a wrench into the works of a young persons world.  A time when everything stands still and you ask questions like What? Why?   This has happened to someone in our high school family. Meet Mike {Mikey} Seelye.  http://www.gofundme.com/ekauyg Mike Seelye should be starting his senior year at Sonoma Valley High School and playing on the SVHS football team as #66. He worked hard all summer long…  Read More…

San Francisco and Big Boat Regatta

One of the things that drives me the most nuts, is when kids hang out on their “electronics” for hours at a time.  I  know in our home, we have guidelines for that.  The kids can enjoy some “techy” time on their devices {no violent games allowed} and they are shut off after an allotted time.  I love trying to find activities for us to do as a family on the weekends.  Sure Sunday is set aside for football games and college games are Saturday’s, but as a mom who just loves to get her kids out and moving, I can’t help but gather us together and head out.  This past weekend was no exception.  The weather here in California is still amazing {hoping for a great winter as we need the rain}, and the wine country is pretty hot these days as we are into the “Indian Summer” months….  Read More…

The Love Story

The “love story” is usually something you read about in a book.  The fairytale that has the princess finding her prince and living happily ever after.  It is played out on a big screen for us to watch, while holding that large bucket of popcorn in our laps and wiping tears from our eyes with our sleeves.  The love story is something you hear about while sitting around the family table reminiscing about your grandparents.  A love story can be the most simple or the most grand of stories.  I often wonder if people really do just stop and take in the moments, embrace what is around them.  Who do they have in their lives to appreciate.  I take note of exactly what I have and I thank God for it and embrace it. So to my hubby, this is for you … You are my true mate Your sarcasm…  Read More…

The Ulitmate Coffee Date 5

Good Morning and thank you for joining us for coffee and chat time. Let’s dish shall we?  If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that I am getting ready for my next half marathon.  I have two options coming up quickly one in September {the Lake Tahoe Marathon} and one in November {the Napa Valley Harvest Half Marathon}.  I assume I could pull them both off, but running in Lake Tahoe by September seems a bit aggressive, since I would be running in a different altitude and would have many hills.  I guess I could pull them both off, but that might be a bit nuts.  Make sure to check back here next week as I have discount codes for both of these races.  You never know, maybe you or some friends might want to make a trip out this way and run them. ♥ If we…  Read More…
