Finding My Word For 2016

With Christmas behind us and things back in order, I find myself a bit more quiet and with that comes the thoughts of what my word for 2016 would be.  Not that I am just now thinking of this.  I have been bouncing words around in my mind and searching my heart for the one that would resonate with me the most.  It is difficult to come up with just one word {I tend to mix two together}, but a word that could fit and at the same time have more than one meaning. A laundry list of words come to mind … Kindness Happy Truth Strive Empower and the list goes on.   It finally came to me, the word that just makes sense for myself and my soul.  I have an entire year to live with this word and I am confident it is exactly the right one.  I…  Read More…

Merry Christmas Recap

Christmas day has come and gone, but the I am keeping the holiday feeling alive {at least around here}.  Normally the tree is down first thing the next morning, however I just couldn’t bring myself to do it this year.  I instead met myself halfway and took all the ornaments off and neatly wrapped each one back into tissue paper and placing gently into the green and red storage box that clearly means Christmas stuff only.  The Pandora station is still set to the holiday station until the first of the new year {I sense a mutiny coming from the family}. Christmas went just as I set out to have it go.  The shopping was done weeks early and since Faith is old enough and loves keeping busy, she did all the wrapping for everyone {except herself}.  This meant the closet was organized and everything was ready.  Santa and his…  Read More…

School was out last week for the Christmas break and as usual {to keep up with tradition}, we hosted another holiday get together for miss Faith and her gal friends.  Since this requires getting everyone together before travel plans start, it means planning and prepping weeks ahead.  This isn’t our first rodeo, we know how to pull it together with plenty of time … DATE/TIME *Check calendar and choose a few different dates. *Send out email invite with details and specified dates and include the time.  This gives everyone a chance to chime in on what works for them. *Confirm final date and respond. *Come up with food {menu}. *Are you wanting to do easy?  Are you on a budget?  Do you want to have anyone bring something? *Plan food for specific time of the day. Setting Goals 2016

The end of the year has me thinking so many things.  I swear if I don’t stop and just take a breath, my head will spin off.  I know we tend to gather up all the odds and ends by end of the year and create our lists of everything we want to do, complete, accomplish and goal for the new year coming.  I am so guilty of this, however I want to put the brakes on and stop. I want to take many minutes a good day to be quiet and still with my mind.  I want to soak in the past year and remember.  I want to sit and listen to the Christmas music playing on the Pandora station in the house.  I want to sit and finish that cup of tea quietly.  I want to lay on the couch at night and stare at the tree while…  Read More…

Winter Hydrating With HINT Water

Just because the weather outside is cold does not mean we can’t get dehydrated.  Are you up to speed on Winter Dehydration? SOME CAUSES OF WINTER DEHYDRATION Cold weather can make the bodies thirst response diminish {this can be up to 40% even when we are hydrating}.  Why?  The blood vessels constrict when our bodies are cold, preventing blood flowing freely to extremities.  {When our fingers and toes start to tingle or feel numb}.  By drawing more blood to the core, this will enable the body to conserve heat.  When this happens, our body thinks it is okay and properly hydrated {we don’t feel as thirsty, the body is fooled}. Think about it, are you less likely to drink water during winter?  Snowboarding, skiing, sledding, running, ice skating, working out.  Whatever you activities are during the winter months, you still need to hydrate {in fact even more so}.  Read about…  Read More…

Finding The Right Christmas Tree

Christmas 2015 is here and one of my  favorite family traditions is getting bundled up and heading to the tree lot.  We used to do the tree farm until the kids started complaining about the long drive and hours of hiking around until we I found just the right tree.  So the tree lot it is.  Normally we head out in the evenings, or we wait until the husband’s birthday {next week}, but this past weekend had the family feeling excited and too antsy to wait. The “adventure” is pretty typical and almost predictable. I meander around the lot, ogling at all the trees and inhaling in the fresh scents.  I imagine being in the midst of some forest in Lake Tahoe, snow is falling and it is bitter cold.  I then open my eyes and see the gravel under my feet and watch the truck come through with another…  Read More…

Winter Hydrating and SOS Mango

*Disclosure* I was given product and compensation for my work with SOS and Fit Approach for my review.  As always, my enthusiasm is my own. Hydration is pretty much a word we need to hear and use all year round.  There is no season for hydrating, it should just be given that we need to be properly hydrating our bodies all year round.  Hydrating is easier for some and more difficult for others.  Some of us can drink glasses of water all day long and some need help getting water in them.  Check out SOS Hydration.  The fast-acting electrolyte replacement and hydration drink that helps combat dehydration caused by active lifestyles and physical performance. @fitnessmom1 @fitapproach @SOSRehydrate win #realhydration #giveaway Click To Tweet Understanding dehydration here SOS Hydration … who uses it?  Olympians Professional Sports Teams Professional Athletes Weekend Warriors Anyone with an active lifestyle … Are you active?  Then…  Read More…
