Napa Valley Turkey Trot 2015

What a wonderful November Saturday morning.  Miss Faith and I headed out to run our third Napa Valley Turkey Trot and as usual, we had a great time.  We started running this event its first year, and we are huge fans of this family 5k.  The Napa Valley College is home of the Turkey Trot and it is a great run.  The course is easy and nice with some incline and a bit of trail {not too much}.  You have the option of doing a 5k run/walk OR a 1 mile walk.  There is food, classic 50’s music {so fun} and entertainment. Last year’s event was a pretty wet and cold one as it just poured down rain.  This year the weather was amazing, the colors all around the Napa Valley are brilliant right now, and the air was just cool enough without feeling like we were going to be…  Read More…

Sisters Crush Breast Cancer 5k

Fall is just around the corner and we think of colors, leaves, pumpkins, chilly weather, foggy mornings, comfort food, baking, getting cozied up and just embracing the season coming.  Well it also means October  is near and that is the month for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Maybe we don’t speak of it much, maybe we are afraid to talk about it, maybe we have a personal connection or story about it, either way it is all around us and we see Pink everywhere.  Ribbons, buttons, shirts, shoelaces, tennis shoes {the runner in me} workout wear, kitchen appliances, pink NFL uniforms, etc. Pink just happens to be pretty much my most favorite color, but it is a reminder to me that it stands for something … something very powerful.  Powerful because Breast Cancer is strong.  It takes over and can sometimes win OR sometimes lose.  Pink is pretty, Breast Cancer is NOT!…  Read More…

Bringing The Color Run To Our School

Last Friday was our first jog-a-thon for the Adele Harrison middle school here in Sonoma.  This  was an event that was the brain child of one of our AMAZING parents {Eileen}.  She worked to pull together volunteers, contacted some local markets for sponsorships, created letters, etc.  If you have ever been a parent volunteer in your child’s school, you get the idea. Eileen had contacted me asking if I would be willing to hop on board with this event, knowing it was right up my alley.  She had wanted to create a Color Run for the kids and knowing that I have had plenty of experience with color runs, I was just the gal. I could not wait to get a hold of my contacts at The Color Run and start conversation.  It did not take long for them to want to reply and jump in on doing anything and…  Read More…

My Emotional Turkey Trot

This past weekend was rather special as I was able to run the First Annual Napa Valley Turkey Trot 5k event which supported the Salvation Army.  I was very pleased to have been given two race tickets {one for Miss Faith and myself}. The morning started out a bit chilly, but amazing for a November day in the wine country.  This particular day was special as we went as a family.  My hubby and son watching and cheering us on, while I was able to run with our daughter.  Faith and I have done a Color Run together, but this was different.  There was a special “something” about this run with her.  Maybe it was because it was her first timed race with me, maybe it was watching her excitement as we got close to the start time, maybe it was her telling me to “keep up” and not slow…  Read More…

It’s Lake Tahoe People….And A Promo Code!

I am so excited to share this that I am having a hard time finding a way to start.  It’s time for the 18th LAKE TAHOE MARATHON + {the plus meaning that this three day event has more than just the marathon} you have a menu of events to choose from and the scenery alone is worth it.  No matter which you do, you will be in Lake Tahoe  so trees, beaches, lakes, mountains, the fresh air {is that enough}?  September 27th-29th, 2013 As a child growing up in South Lake Tahoe, I could not be more thrilled, because this is the year that I am getting involved and both Faith and I are running the 5k which finishes at Pope Beach. The very same beach that I played on for years and have taken our kids to.  Here is an example of what you can find on the event…  Read More…
