Color Run Fun…..And Faith

This last weekend was my first Color Me Rad run and although I was really excited, nothing could have made it for AMAZING than running it with our daughter.  I am not sure how many of you have done runs/events with your children, but I know as a mom {for me anyway} I have always looked forward to the milestones we have with our kids. Waiting for them to be able to “chat and talk”, waiting for them to be able to play board games, waiting for them to be able to go on bike rides together, help cook in the kitchen, even make their own food, clean their own rooms….the list goes on. Now Faith and I are able to team up and enjoy something together. I am so blessed and happy that she has the same interest in fitness and running like I do.  SO much in fact,…  Read More…

Moms And The Journey

Mother’s Day is here and it is a bittersweet day.  The day to really reflect on our journey as moms.  Maybe reflect on our childhood and our mothers. Take a look at our relationships with our moms or the relationships we have with our own children.  This is a day that I embrace and look forward to on one hand as I get to wake with my kids {as everyday, only today the energy in the house is somewhat giddy and exciting}  but on the other hand, I am filled with sadness and loss from my own relationship with my mother. Of course everyday is a gift that I am able to spend with my children.  I am the stay home mom, the keeper of the home, the queen of laundry,  the task master and activities director.  This day though has a special “sparkle” to it.  It just screams happiness,…  Read More…

A Loss and Sadness….Double Dose

You know those days when it seems everything annoys you? Come on, we ALL have them, right? The day starts and you get that feeling in your gut the one that tells you “I think I am grumpy and irritated, but am going to ignore it and be positive”….that kind of day? Maybe there is something in the air, maybe it is time for the “monthly” visit, maybe you can sense that something is just “off”.  Well today just happen to be one of those days. Listen, I am normally a “glass is always half full” kind of gal, the “don’t worry, everything always works out” kind of gal, the one who constantly stops and reminds my family that we are “so blessed and lucky”, that we “need to stop and appreciate”….YEP one of those gals. Maybe it was heading to another little league game and having to reach deep…  Read More…

Hike with the kids….what could go wrong?

What do the kids and I do when “hubby” has to work? We head out for a hike!  Normally, I don’t like to do hikes without having my husband around and this is for a few reasons. I tend to get lost sometimes I suffer from panic attacks I have been followed before while out running and approached by a stranger on more than one occasion {totally creepy} I like the security of having “back up” in case something goes wrong or we happen to fall and roll down a hill and can’t get up! My hubby is my best friend and puts up with my adventures♥ This hike was going to be “easy peasy” heck we were just heading over to Napa {a 13 min drive from the house} and to Westwood Park. How hard could this be? Cool views, and healthy snacks…. Different and winding paths everywhere {which way…  Read More…

Little League in the Wine Country..

Okay so this post is behind, but I still wanted to get it out there because we are officially in Little League season and this momma is super proud of her “baby”! OH my we are getting read for Little League season.  This is Noah’s last year on the Majors and we are so looking forward to an exciting season.  I have never been a fan of “baseball”, in fact honestly I can’t stand watching the game {I am a true football gal myself}, but beings that we have a son who has been playing since T-ball and an older {21 year old} who played years of this sport, I have had to learn to love it.  Okay, I admit it does get pretty exciting when your child is out there on the field and the game gets exciting. You can’t help but get sucked into the energy of all…  Read More…

It Goes By Fast, Are you Paying Attention?

I am amazed at how quickly the rest of February is flying by once Valentine’s Day has passed.  We have little league practices gearing up to 4 days a week.  Conference notices coming home to schedule those.  Meeting for all in-coming 6th graders to the Junior High School, and choosing electives and classes. Wow, this is the time of year when organization skills come in super handy.  Speaking of 6th grade.  This is the last year that we are attending our current elementary school.  I have spent 14 years at our school, walked many miles of hallways, have had the pleasure of knowing 3 principals, sitting on the PTO Board, heading up fundraisers, being a classroom parent, volunteering in the office and even taken a turn at lunch duty, yes whistle and all 🙂 Now I am really noticing the days moving quickly as our youngest Faith is preparing for her…  Read More…

Wrapping up November

It has been far too long since posting and I am always telling myself to get this done.   We are now on the first day of December and I need to wrap up November. Thanksgiving went off without a hitch, success again and another year of celebrating with friends (even new ones).  In fact I am so touched when I can actually come face to face with followers of  Fitnessmom who live in the area and it so happened that Thanksgiving was an event we were able to share with fellow fans and now close friends. Our home is the “Island of Misfit Toys”, the place where people come and join and share who either can’t be with family OR don’t have family like myself.   When my two sisters and mother had decided to end our relationship and dismiss me from the family, I knew that I was not going to let…  Read More…
