Grocery Outlet Napa Valley Grand Opening

Big news!  Grocery Outlet has arrived and has a new home in the Napa Valley.  I will be totally honest with you, I have never stepped foot in a {GO} before and was invited to visit this new one.  I was immediately intrigued and had to go check it out.  I had questions because I really didn’t understand the concept, was it a warehouse or did you need a membership?  Were you to buy items in bulk? Not at all, in fact just the opposite.  Grocery Outlet is not a warehouse and no you do not have to buy in bulk.  Just a regular grocery store with lower prices.  The  Napa Valley location is large and open with all the items and products placed neatly and easy to see and find.  I was greeted by friendly staff and walked through the doors with my eyes wide open and my mouth…  Read More…

#whatslovely FOOD

Happy Thursday everyone.  Today is day four of #whatslovely and it is FOOD day.  Where do I even begin with this one?  I am not going to get all technical and talk “food science” with you.  I am NOT a registered dietician or nutritionist, I am just a gal who happens to LOVE food {and a great glass of wine}.  Not only am I so spoiled living in California and am surrounded by the most amazing produce, fruits and veggies … I happen to live smack dab in the center of the wine country and the possibilities are endless around here when it comes to food.     This does not mean that I just go banana crazy and eat whatever, whenever.  Sure I have many favorite foods that I wish I could eat everyday, however I know I need to take into consideration what I am eating, how often…  Read More…

Easy Veggie Frittata

Sunday, football and fall equals food.  A super easy, quick and healthy recipe for such a day would be the Frittata.  I am a fan of this dish and I love eating it right out of the oven warm or having later chilled from the fridge.  Either way, the Frittata is a great substitute for the quiche, since it deletes the crust. *Some people will make a frittata on the stove sort of like an omelette.  I prefer to bake mine in the oven. Ingredients 5 Eggs 6 Mushrooms 1/2 Red Onion 1/2 Red Bell Pepper 1/2 cup Shredded Pepper Jack Cheese 1 cup black beans 1/2 cup fresh salsa 1 tsp Cumin Kosher Salt {Dash} Ground Pepper {To Taste} 1 Avocado EVOO 1/4 Almond Milk {Optional} Directions Beat eggs in a bowl with 1/4 cup of water OR almond milk.  Set aside.  Chop your mushrooms, bell pepper and onion…  Read More…

#Move Nourish Believe Challenge with Lorna Jane Week Two

I am so jazzed to have been invited to join and participate in the Lorna Jane Move Nourish Believe Challenge for the month of February along with Fit Approach.  We are breaking down the challenge into three parts. Move {week one} Nourish {week two} Believe {week three} Although I like to think that I am a pretty “active” gal generally, this challenge is fun because I get to join other amazing women out there and help hold one another accountable and support each other.  So when we did the Move week one, I felt like it was pretty easy for me. Time to Nourish the body… This week was so fun for me!  I am a huge “foodie” so creating my meals is easy.  As long as we shop smart, we can always feed our bodies super healthy and keep our food real. ♥ I don’t eat red meat nor…  Read More…

Wrapping up November

It has been far too long since posting and I am always telling myself to get this done.   We are now on the first day of December and I need to wrap up November. Thanksgiving went off without a hitch, success again and another year of celebrating with friends (even new ones).  In fact I am so touched when I can actually come face to face with followers of  Fitnessmom who live in the area and it so happened that Thanksgiving was an event we were able to share with fellow fans and now close friends. Our home is the “Island of Misfit Toys”, the place where people come and join and share who either can’t be with family OR don’t have family like myself.   When my two sisters and mother had decided to end our relationship and dismiss me from the family, I knew that I was not going to let…  Read More…
