Summer Wrap Up and Kids Back to School

Oh my gosh!  Where and how do I even begin this?  I have taken a very long sabbatical from the blog world.  Here’s the deal,  summer was coming and I knew we had some vacations planned.  I was killing it at Pure Barre going pretty much six days a week and actually challenged myself to 30 days in a row {completed} while hitting over 300 classes.  I wanted to write and share updates on life and healthy living, the kids, food and all my Pure Barre badness, but instead just unplugged.  This mom needed a mental break from technology writing {Instagram doesn’t count as writing}.  Summer consisted of a nice ten days relaxing in Cabo San Lucas, water aerobics, stair running {that ended after the second, swimming with dolphins, snorkeling, and educating myself on how many ways to drink rum. Spending a week in South Lake Tahoe was the way…  Read More…

Finding My Way As An Army Mom

When life hits a bump in the road and you feel as if God is giving you {yet once again} something more than you can handle, you stop and take the longest of breaths.  You literally stop.  At least that is what I have done.  Since hearing the official word from our son about his leaving for the Army Ranger program and actually seeing the paper work, the last few weeks has had me feeling as if the heaviest of loads has been suffocating me.  I can’t seem to function on all cylinders and it is crippling.  I am not used to this, I am normally very together, organized and timely.  On task with work {like my blogging} and my job at home.  The simplest of daily routines seem to be interrupted by the distraction in my mind.  Pure Barre class has me in a daze and not paying attention,…  Read More…

When Mom Gets the Flu

Well I was on a roll last week, the weather here in Northern California has been amazing.  Perfect for running, walking.  I have been killing it in my Pure Barre classes and sticking to a great routine.  That’s it right there, ROUTINE … I knew things were going to well. Miss Faith arrives home from school not feeling well.  Great, let’s get this taken care of quickly, let’s nip this in the bud.  Rest, rest soup, Ginger Ale and Tylenol.  We got this.  Noooo, we don’t.  Four days later, things are not looking up.  A visit to the doctor some antibiotics and more rest.  Seven days of sleeping and resting.  Okay moms, we know the drill, this is NOT our first rodeo showdown with a nasty bug.  Heck no.  We just need to  keep the house clean and as germ free as possible.  All the while telling ourselves we are…  Read More…

A Day in the Life …

Well so much for sticking to the task on hand.  I had planned on blogging more regularly at the start of this new year and as I see, I am failing at this already.  I am however, keeping on task with my workouts {bringing me back to the first problem, blogging} as I wanted to track my progress via blogging and stay connected and motivated, all while hopefully inspiring others out there as they inspire me. Bringing us up to date with this latest post thanks to Katie and her blog.  The Day in the Life … I love this link up and am enjoying working my way through reading about fellow moms, fitness fanatics and women just like myself.  We all have different lifestyles, yet we are all very similar.  Just getting through each day the best we can and taking care of our family and ourselves at the…  Read More…

The 100 Percent Mom

Being a mom is the most rewarding yet most thankless jobs ever {am I right}?  Come on, we know it.  Whether we are stay at home moms, or working moms, it is a job that requires us to be 100% all the time.  Okay let’s back up …. When I say the 100% comment, I don’t mean we need to be perfect.  Obviously we are NOT.  However, we sure put a lot of pressure on us to be the best moms we can be OR be the better mom than “that” one {you know, the mom who just seems like she has all her shit together ducks in a row}. I am very type A and very organized.  I take so much pride in having structure and routine and a very clean house.  Sure the beds are made many mornings before the kids even leave for school and yes I…  Read More…

Because We Are Moms

From the moment they arrive in this world, we take on an entire new set of feelings and emotions.  We become instantly protective, our hearts grow bigger, our souls fall in love.  We are more intuitive, we are awakened and aware.  We become more emotional than we were.  We are able to grow instinct like we have never had before.  We hear and see everything differently.  We become caretakers, we are more watchful, we are sensitive to everything around us.  We are about to embark on to the most amazing, confusing, stressful and wonderful journey of our lives.   We become Moms ♥ There are no instruction books for this job that has all of the sudden fallen onto us.  There are no guidelines, there are no rules, sometimes there is no rhyme or reason.  We just figure it out.  We go with the flow, we learn as we go. …  Read More…

We Are Amazing, We Are Moms…

This post came to me literally in the middle of the night {some time after 1:00 a.m. to be precise}.   I was sound asleep when I heard someone standing over me saying the words “mom, mom”.  I was not awake, nor were my eyes open, so I could not tell if was dreaming or if I wanted to wake because one of my children needed me.  I hear the words again, only this time I force my eyes open and I see the silhouette of Faith standing in my room.  Two reactions happen…one a quick, startling jump with a sense of fear and the other was the sense of urgency to get up quickly and see if she is okay. “Mom, there is a mosquito flying around my head and I can hear him and can’t sleep”.  Okay as moms this is what we do… Climb out of bed and…  Read More…
