Nike Training and Running Thoughts

I am a week away from the Nike Women’s Half Marathon.  My very first time running this popular and highly anticipated race.  I have run half marathons before, heck this will be my fifth one.  I have been training on and off for months, I have been taking Pure Barre classes religiously in order to help strengthen my core and legs.  So why on earth is the Nike so scary for me?  Is it because I will be spending an entire weekend attending activities and workouts prior to race day?  Is it because this race has an estimated 30,000 runners {not 3,000}?  Is it because I have no idea what to expect, as I have not headed to the city and checked out the route?  Is it because I know I am going to be taking on some major hills?  I can keep second guessing myself all week long and…  Read More…

I Am A Runner

Since the kids have been back in school, my early morning 5:30 a.m. run schedule has been moved to the 9:00 a.m. run schedule.  I knew this was going to happen, I actually caught myself coming up with excuses as to why this would suck {okay maybe a bit harsh, but I was bummed out}.  I knew that the later the morning got, I would have more reasons to talk my way out of going.  I would get caught up on my computer, posting on facebook, tweeting, reading fellow bloggers, going through both email accounts, getting hungry since I had not gone early, knowing that the weather was getting warmer the later it got {I loved the early morning run with the cold chill}.  Then I would start in on the things that needed to be done around the house, laundry, breakfast dishes, well you get it.  See how quick…  Read More…

Let’s Run July Challenge

It’s July and I am in the mood to challenge myself … guess what that means?  Yep, I am going to share the challenge, keep track of it AND invite you {or challenge you} to join me.  I have just recently completed my first half marathon and I am not done.  Nope, I got the bug and I am taking on more.  Don’t get me wrong, I still love the mud runs, color runs and 10k’s, as I enjoy doing those with our daughter.  But this mamma runner is putting her big girl running gear on and getting it done. I am currently training for the Nike Women’s Half Marathon {October 19th} in San Francisco.  I know, I have plenty of time right?  Wrong!  I need to get my body in the best running shape I can.  That half marathon will include hills and ups and downs that I am…  Read More…

Napa Valley Zooma and My First Half Marathon

It is official …. I am a Half Marathoner!  I can actually call myself a “runner“.  Well okay, I have been a runner, only I guess my head never let me believe it until I completed something as big as a half or full marathon.  This past weekend I ran the Zooma Womens’ Race Series Half Marathon here in Napa Valley, CA.  This was the inaugural race for Napa and is actually right in my own back yard {I live in Sonoma}. I could not have been more excited when Zooma had notified me that I was one of the women who would be an ambassador for their race series.  The experience has been awesome, they take care of their runners and have a great time doing it.  The support is amazing, the other ambassadors are wonderful and the brands they work with are just superb. The race morning had…  Read More…
