Setting Goals 2016

The end of the year has me thinking so many things.  I swear if I don’t stop and just take a breath, my head will spin off.  I know we tend to gather up all the odds and ends by end of the year and create our lists of everything we want to do, complete, accomplish and goal for the new year coming.  I am so guilty of this, however I want to put the brakes on and stop. I want to take many minutes a good day to be quiet and still with my mind.  I want to soak in the past year and remember.  I want to sit and listen to the Christmas music playing on the Pandora station in the house.  I want to sit and finish that cup of tea quietly.  I want to lay on the couch at night and stare at the tree while…  Read More…

Winter Hydrating and SOS Mango

*Disclosure* I was given product and compensation for my work with SOS and Fit Approach for my review.  As always, my enthusiasm is my own. Hydration is pretty much a word we need to hear and use all year round.  There is no season for hydrating, it should just be given that we need to be properly hydrating our bodies all year round.  Hydrating is easier for some and more difficult for others.  Some of us can drink glasses of water all day long and some need help getting water in them.  Check out SOS Hydration.  The fast-acting electrolyte replacement and hydration drink that helps combat dehydration caused by active lifestyles and physical performance. @fitnessmom1 @fitapproach @SOSRehydrate win #realhydration #giveaway Click To Tweet Understanding dehydration here SOS Hydration … who uses it?  Olympians Professional Sports Teams Professional Athletes Weekend Warriors Anyone with an active lifestyle … Are you active?  Then…  Read More…

Napa Valley Turkey Trot 2015

What a wonderful November Saturday morning.  Miss Faith and I headed out to run our third Napa Valley Turkey Trot and as usual, we had a great time.  We started running this event its first year, and we are huge fans of this family 5k.  The Napa Valley College is home of the Turkey Trot and it is a great run.  The course is easy and nice with some incline and a bit of trail {not too much}.  You have the option of doing a 5k run/walk OR a 1 mile walk.  There is food, classic 50’s music {so fun} and entertainment. Last year’s event was a pretty wet and cold one as it just poured down rain.  This year the weather was amazing, the colors all around the Napa Valley are brilliant right now, and the air was just cool enough without feeling like we were going to be…  Read More…

Nike Women’s Half Marathon 2015

Running has been a daily steady routine for me the past few months.  After my last half marathon this past summer, I knew I had to get prepared for my next one, the Nike Women’s Half Marathon here in San Francisco.  This is a race that has been on my run “wish list” for a few years now and I had hoped to be one of the lucky “golden ticket” winners to get chosen via the lottery.  As luck would have it, I had been invited to run this amazing race via Nike and Six:02.  The Nike Women’s Half has been popular for years and it has an enormous amount of runners from all over traveling to San Francisco to attend.  With an expectation of over 30,000 runner’s this year,  I have no doubt this will be an experience of a lifetime. Nike is changing things up a bit this…  Read More…

Nike Training and Running Thoughts

I am a week away from the Nike Women’s Half Marathon.  My very first time running this popular and highly anticipated race.  I have run half marathons before, heck this will be my fifth one.  I have been training on and off for months, I have been taking Pure Barre classes religiously in order to help strengthen my core and legs.  So why on earth is the Nike so scary for me?  Is it because I will be spending an entire weekend attending activities and workouts prior to race day?  Is it because this race has an estimated 30,000 runners {not 3,000}?  Is it because I have no idea what to expect, as I have not headed to the city and checked out the route?  Is it because I know I am going to be taking on some major hills?  I can keep second guessing myself all week long and…  Read More…

Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon and Halloween Fun

Destination Races has done it again, another amazing race weekend is approaching and right here in wine country.  The Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon is this Halloween and what an awesome way to spend that morning.  Ditch the candy and let’s have some wine! You are not ready to run a half marathon?  No problem, register for the 5k and start at the Mazzocco Winery and finish the run at Trentadue Winery.  Have some fun and wear a costume, bring the kids.  What a great way to start their morning off.  You can trick or treat from winery to winery just beyond the finish line.  Enjoy running through a most beautiful wine region.  Fall is in the air and the colors are amazing right now.  The town of Healdsburg is a favorite of ours.  Small, quaint and full of wonderful shopping, wine tasting and amazing restaurants. Head on out for…  Read More…

Pure Barre and Running

By now most of us {I assume} has heard of Pure Barre.  The workout using the ballet bar, that cute little red ball, that looks similar to the red bounce ball we played with on the school yard {only smaller} and the stretching bands.  Yep, that’s the one.  Well I am a HUGE fan of Pure Barre and I have been incorporating the workout with my running for over a year now.  Wow, what a difference. Benefits of Pure Barre for running … {my version} Stamina Stronger core Arm strength while using when running Killer calf muscles Ankles {finally} Lean legs Toned Strong hamstrings, glutes and quads Toned inner thighs Great buttocks {that Pure Barre ledge} Running is not a new thing for me, I have actually been running for years.   I was running in my 20’s often and then again in my 30’s.  It wasn’t until the last almost…  Read More…

The Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon is A Must Run

About two weeks ago, I had the amazing opportunity to run the Napa to Sonoma Wine CountryHalf Marathon and I could not have been more excited.  This race has been on my wish list for a few years and being invited as a blogger/runner was a huge thrill and honor for me.  Before I get into my own personal recap and experience, let me start by saying that Destination Races put together a MOST amazing weekend race event and holds nothing back.  I was very impressed with every detail {although I was not able to attend the pre-race dinner or the morning yoga because of other obligations} I enjoyed the perks of the VIP package. Let’s just start with Friday night.  A very intimate Welcome Reception was held at Cuvasion Winery which is the start place of the race.  The evening had wine, food samples and speeches from the race…  Read More…
