Bringing The Color Run To Our School

Last Friday was our first jog-a-thon for the Adele Harrison middle school here in Sonoma.  This  was an event that was the brain child of one of our AMAZING parents {Eileen}.  She worked to pull together volunteers, contacted some local markets for sponsorships, created letters, etc.  If you have ever been a parent volunteer in your child’s school, you get the idea. Eileen had contacted me asking if I would be willing to hop on board with this event, knowing it was right up my alley.  She had wanted to create a Color Run for the kids and knowing that I have had plenty of experience with color runs, I was just the gal. I could not wait to get a hold of my contacts at The Color Run and start conversation.  It did not take long for them to want to reply and jump in on doing anything and…  Read More…

Our Future Leader

Miss Faith is currently running for 7th grade rep at her middle school.  The speeches are to be given this Friday.  Let me recap our daughter and her goals quickly to get to my story… Faith is our only daughter, she is 12.  She is amazing, inspiring, smart, talented, compassionate, helpful, friendly, creative, organized, well liked, honest, hard working, stubborn, speaks her mind, stands up for herself, steps out of her comfort zone.  She is sarcastic, funny, loyal to a fault, an amazing friend.  She is trusting, caring, competitive, strong and has moxie.  {there is more, but you get it}. We have just returned from our very first CASL trip {California Association of Student Leaders}.  This trip is open to all leadership kids at the school, only this year it was also open to the yearbook students.  Yes Miss Faith is in yearbook {the 6th grader in a 7th/8th grade…  Read More…

Mom To The Rescue

It was Tuesday night when Faith came into our room and said “Mom, I need the computer after school tomorrow”, “are you going to be working on it”?  That sentence right there, that was it.  I placed my magazine down and my hot tea, removed my glasses and knew we had a “project” coming.  As a parent we have the special “mommy senses”, the one’s that tell our guts that something is up or we know when the kids are holding back on something.  In fact, we should have special capes we put on for each time we are to jump into action.  This would require the “Project Cape” {gulp} and I was to get ready. I continued to listen to our princess as she began to explain the assignment.  I asked questions, she rolled her eyes.  I asked more questions, she did the “chill  mom”, “it’s all good” lecture. …  Read More…

Dear Teacher, Meet Faith…

This week an assignment came home with Faith, we were to {in so many words} write about our child, letting her teacher know a bit about her. FROM MOM…Faith is amazing!  Not just because she is our daughter, she is just an awesome spirit and kind soul. She is caring and creates true friendships.  She is an incredible artist, she is a beautiful swimmer {4 years on the swim team}.  She is driven by her passions. She is competitive in a healthy way.  She is out-going, fearless and if something is scary to her, she is still willing to step out of her comfort zone and try. She loves food, she likes to run.  She is very creative. Her favorite snack is popcorn.  She is a lover of animals. She is able to speak her mind.  She is funny, witty and even sarcastic.  Anyone who has the chance to know…  Read More…

And It All Begins…Summer, Hairpulling {my own} and We Made Sherbet

Well it has started, we have been out of school for what 3 days and I am already having to create “projects” for Noah and Faith. You know, most of us would think as the kids get older things get easier…LOL, right!  I have found myself playing “referee“, board game queen, activities director, day-trip planner, and waitress every summer. NO, it does not get easier {unless you are the parent who just let’s the play station and IPad entertain your kids}.  Not in this house, not me, nope!  Sure they have their allotted time with the electronics, but here’s the deal…I am a stay at home mom {inspiring blogger} Fitnessmomwinecountry creator {hoping to build on my Wellness Weekends} and since I am so supported by my AMAZING hubby, I can’t complain. I loved seeing that Faith had read through some of my magazines over the weekend and from what I…  Read More…
